Yes, it's the holidays, but we here at First Legion work with our mouth full of holiday food (literally its sad to say!) to bring you the finest toy soldiers in the world. In addition to the British Light Dragoons, we've also started the pre-order on two more fantastic sets of infantry for our WWII: The Battle of Stalingrad figure range. For the Germans, its GERSTAL019 Combat Pioneer Flamethrower Team and for the Russians its RUSSTAL009 Russian Scout Detachment. Each set adds the elite of each army captured in the close quarters cauldron that was the Battle of Stalingrad. With these Russians we are providing our first samples of what you can expect from WWII camouflage uniforms done by First Legion and we hope you agree that they are superbly rendered and historically accurate to the smallest detail. These figures will be shipping to customers worldwide in early February 2010.

GERSTAL019 Combat Pioneer Flamethrower Team - $109.95
RUSSTAL009 Russian Scout Detachment - $169.95

Like the Russian scouts. Great poses and facial expressions.

Very nice , I'm enjoying the detail in the early Russian Amoeba pattern smock, and coverall very well done and you guys of course nailed the pattern perfectly. As has been done Perfectly with the German releases with the Splinter Zeltbahns and early helmet covers I know I'm jumping the gun here but I can't wait to see some tan and water and when FL get to the Waffen SS units thats when its really gonna get interesting. Palm , Oakleaf , Blurred edge, 44 dot and maybe some Fall of Berlin Leibermuster pattern:D. Hey I'm sure they get to it.... well at least I can hope.:D Gebhard:)

super looking pieces.
once again, the russians indeed looks better than the jerries.

OUTSTANDING..........:)
These two future releases are simply amazing. Very nice detail/poses and uniforms on the Russian scouts. The German Flamethrower team is a sorely needed set for any battlefront, and well needed for this line of figures.
First Legions, Battle for Stalingrad is really taking shape. Speaking for myself, it's a wonderful time to be a collector of Toy Soldiers and to be able to start collecting from a companies initial release. Looking forward to what's in store for 2010.:)

Matt,

I was going to reply and say I think you should include your website link to your post/s...then I went back and I see you already did...that makes a difference!

seeing that the 3 man russian at 169.95 and the german 2 team at 109. does this mean the price per figure is going up to $55 each ?

Yawn...big yawn...ddss

Really? I think these, especially the Scouts are some of the best posed figures yet. Particularly like the Scout advancing with the knife. Very nicely sculpted and painted figures.

Sorry, I think you misunderstood - my post was not intended towards these superb figures, which I have pre-ordered, but towards the rest: if it is not scale, then it is price and if it is not price, it is something else...

The FL figures are mostly $49.95 each - now a few new ones are $54.95. That's only a 10% increase. I really don't think the price will stop FL collectors from buying the new figures which look excellent on the web site.

Right you are, I can only speak for myself but like all things in life if you want the best it just cost a little more and IMO at the present First Legion are the best (Aeroart excluded of course).I don't post on other manufactures threads stating this as I also collect some of the others and have for years and will continue to do so( its just not far to anyone and does nothing but upset loyal fans of the respective lines). The first couple of Releases at $ 34.95 IMO where a steal ,I wish it would have stayed that way but at $54.95 I still don't think they are overpriced . Being a collector of 2 of the 3 lines introduced thus far from FL . I'm happy to see the price for the new Nappie British Cav down in price from the last Cav release. All the Best Gebhard aned a BIG HAPPY NEW YEAR to all ;)

I am pretty sure Matt mentioned there would be some variance in the price of figures dependant upon the complexity of the figure. In other words if a figure is more time consuming to create then the price would be slightly higher.

If the quality of the sculpting, painting and attention to historical accuracy aren't a top priority for you then there are certainly less expensive alternatives on the market.

Yeah like the 'Life of Jesus' line for example...cuty cuty cuty cuty and not expensive at all! Ok, it's not WWII, but hey, at least it meets all the other criteria :D

The price won't stop all collectors but it might stop some. The prices might have started at $34.95 and now are at $54.95.$20 is quite a jump. Now buying 1 figure at $20 more is not that much.but buy 10,20,50 figures at $20 more how much more is that? Now some of you can afford that but a lot can't.One thing I want to say is for those of you that made better career choices, hit the lottery or whatever and make better money than some and can afford these figures than that's great. Now you might think that I might begrudge you what you have but I sincerely don't.Just try to understand that these are beautiful figures and for us who can't afford to buy these in large amounts it's a little disheartning to know that the prices are getting higher and higher.Anybody who collects WWII or Napoleon ranges wants to get a lot of figures not just 1 or 2.

Well I think it is helpful to be specific about what was priced a what. The early Napoleonic foot figures were $35 and hopefully we will still be able to get more of these when the French restocking is complete.:D Some of the basic Napoleonic foot have been $50 (the Guards) but fortunately the most recent ones (Nassau) are $45. I was really pleased to see that and have hopes for the Green Jackets, which thankfully are not too complex, and am crossing my fingers for the Scots. I am also pleased to see the light dragoons came in below the Carabiniers. Of course they are all well worth it but every little bit helps.;)

The Stalingrad figures started at $50, probably due to the extra level of detail, and now the new ones in that line are $55 so that is not some much of a change really. All in all, the pricing has held up pretty well, especially for a new company that does not enjoy the mass economies of some of its competitors.;)

Hello Bill,
I thought by saying the first couple (being two) releases everyone would know that was the Bavarians and the French line at $34.95. Any way I fully understand what Marco is saying . I two will never be able to realize my dreams for the Napoleonic line . I think its up to the individual as to how much they will spend. There are people who just collect the Personalities line or maybe the Standard bearer and drummer or maybe a couple of each release just to have an example of the uniform equipment ect...I know personally, I just get a little smaller box each month for my allocation of First Legion funds then I used to :D There are a lot of variables involved dependent upon the specific release . I will say that FL figures are like a drug and once you are hooked you will do what you have to too keep your fix coming  even if you have to eat PBJ's for lunch everyday like I do;)... Happy collecting Gebhard
