Mom and Dad came up last night and surprised me with a batch of my original Star Wars figures, dug out of deep storage. It got me to thinking - as plastics were enjoying significant popularity in the '70s, where there ever any plans to release unpainted figures in perhaps 1/35 or 1/32 scale?

I really like the Command figures - great sculpting, although it would be nice to have more poses. Think it would have been great for Airfix or someone to offer up some sets back in the day - imagine a cantina diorama and a Hoth set!

Perhaps we will see more offerings (and hopefully more poses!) when the new movies come out. And I do remember that cantina set - there was also one of Jabba's throne room.

Star Wars figures in the 1970s would have been great, but what I would have killed for was a soft plastic Planet of the Apes toy soldier set. I had the 1/32 MPC figures but they were made of this horrible brittle glass-like plastic. I wish Marx had gotten a license to do an Apes playset.

Both Airfix and Deetail did 1/32 Space Opera figures, and then there was also the Tim-Mee bag.

I can see an Apes playset doing great even today. And I remember the space opera sets!

A MARX POTA set would have been great. But problem was by 1969 Marx was not doing any new sets. I think if POTA would have been released prior to 1965 there may have been a chance.

I really wish they understood how toy soldier collectors need at least 6 poses of Stormtroopers.
Not two poses.

Have you seen these?

There is also another set but it seems to have become very rare all of a sudden and is selling for $350.

If you get both sets you have 4 more 1/32 Stormtrooper poses.

Those look great. The 01 set has Darth Vader.

Don't count on getting Darth Vader or the droids. I ordered both sets from Amazon last year and neither set had the "special" figures. I didn't bother to complain because I already had plenty of Darths and droids from my Star Wars Command sets.

BTW, I found a listing for the other set at a more realistic price.

These fit well with the Star Wars Command figures by Hasbro, not perfect, but very close. The pictured Darth Vadar (two poses), C3PO, R2D2 are CHASE figures, no garantee of getting, in fact a bit harder to come by.
