I have mainly collected King and Country WW2 sets for the past few years. I have started to get interested in Napoleonics (think i spelt it right) and for my next purchase might buy a few. What do you Napoleonics collectors think. Will i still get the same great feeling i get when i buy WW2???:D:)

Thats wonderful.... :)

What we need is more people who appreciate the colourful uniforms and the history of that period of warfare.

Good news is that you won't ned to purchase any of those mechanical monsters or the 20th Century, and will rely on good old horsepower to move around the battlefield.

You will still have artillery, the supreme firepower on the field of battle, and laods of cannon fodder to feed those fire breathing dragons.....

Enjoy you new collection, but also catch up with the history of the era, its great fun :)

Welcome ....

John

You can't go wrong with Napoleonics!!!!
Great uniforms, weapons, cavalry, artillery and scenics.
WWII is great for collectors but those drab olive and field grey uniforms get a little boring (some German camoflage though).

Besides K&C what are a few other good companies thatmake Napoleonics?

Hi Dave, the feeling will be even greater! You will feel like an Emperor! :):D

Besides K&C, Collectors Showcase, Britains, Metal Modeles, Le Cimier, First Legion make excellent Napoleonic figurines.

Welcome to the club!

I agree... anything after 1900 is drab with exception to the Full Dress Parade Uniforms.....

The Napoleonic Era was the start of camouflage..... Jaegers in Prussia and the British 95th Foot were the leaders in wearing green and NOT having white belts for the muskets to aim at.

Enjoy :)

I agree to much WW2......the NAPS are really colorful....I like the Crusades as well as the Egyptians ....would love to see more older historic periods .....:D

I'm also starting to find myself pulled inexorably into the realm of Napoleon...especially French infantry and curassiers...havn't given in to temptation yet though....

I read 'Mercer's Journal of the Waterloo Campaign'... now I've got a RHA gun, crew and mounted Officer!
perhaps I need a line of charging Curryasars bearing down on them, probably an Infantry square toooo!!!

 AARGH!!!

If i do get Naps i want to make a decent size firing line. How many would look good but not break the bank??

Hey Dave ___

1. In the same boat as you, have collected North African Campaign AK & EA figures and equipment, got a good baseline, wanted to branch out, thought Naps would be a good departure. Started collecting Russians, which have retired. Have been able to collect about 36 Officers and Men, with artillery, and some diorama backdrops. Still after a few more pieces, precisely because of what you address as being a decent Firing Line (anybody want to part with an NA144?);)

2. Am in love with the period, history, and uniforms. Glad K&C does such a wonderful job in indulging our interests.

3. Hope you enjoy your collecting and displaying this wonderful era as much as I do:)

Cordially,
Richard

I quite agree. There is nothing quite like the combination of color and action you can make with a Napoleonic scene. I have many of these First Legion lads myself but frankly this member's photos are much better than mine as a muse:

Did someone say Mercer ?? I just returned from vacation and it was a life long dream fulfilled to walk that hollowed ground . Here is a shot of the famed spot . It inspired me to pull out Mercers Journal for a reread myself . All the best Gebhard

Oh, I must have missed this 'hidden gem' when I visited Waterloo in 2008.

I really loved taking in the atmosphere, seeing that actual ground and of course seeing the wonderful rotunda diorama of the battle.... a true pilgrimge to any Napoleonic colletcor :)
