Greetings from Oregon. I found a couple of figures at an antique store that I thought were Britians, but the are marked Steadfast and Gt Britian on the base. This maker isn't listed in the copy of O'Brien Book on Foreign Soldiers. The figures are painted as Gordon with yellow strip kilts, and have tropic helmets are are in Khaki or buff uniforms. Can anyone help me identify them? Thanks.

Steve,

I have seen Steadfast soldiers over the years. I think the company went out of business a few years back. If I'm not mistaken Gideon and his dad John used to carry them at Classic Toys, and I think they sold me a set of Steadfast Boer War Brits half out of uniform sitting around a fire in front of a collapsable bell tent made of canvas with a wire frame. Its a really clever little set, and I thought the quality of the glossy figures was quite good. Gideon is on this forum. Why don't you PM him, he can probably answer your question better than I can.

Hi Guys,

Steadfast Toy soldiers were made in the UK in Nottingham for a while and I think are still being made there. They produce a varried line in metal at 54mm 1 / 32 scale. They also look very much like Wm Britain's Traditional Toy Soldiers but I cant really say if they are cast from similar molds or if its just because of the quality of the painting, which I am told is very good. They were manufactured and painted in the UK for about thirty years. They also come in boxes similar to the Britains sets.

Newbury Toys in the UK has them listed on their website so I am going to assume they are still being made but I have not found a website to verify this so please let us know if I'm 180 out on this one.

Please post a picture if you can I would love to see them.

All the best

Dave

http://www.rpworldmodels.net/ Steadfast figures are still being made
by this company that took over their molds. I don't know how good their painting is under the new company. I have sets of Steadfast figures and I am pleased with what I have. Paul Herman at Toy Soldier Shop in Wisconsin carried the figures. Leadmen

I've just checked the site and they're based about 5 mins drive from where I live  .

Heard of the name, but had no idea they were so close.
Me thinks that I'll have to pay a visit in the next week or so as they seem to encourage callers. If anyone wants any questions asking directly or any info, let me know and I'll see what I can find out.

Simon: I hope this will not get too convient for you to buy stuff. I might have caused you a problem by putting site up. I like their artillery but sent back Nordfelt gun. Did not like the figures or scale. The new owners seem to have higher prices then the old company. You can let us know what you think of the business. John

Greetings from Oregon. Here are the Steadfast figures along with a couple of other Prewar Britains I have found.

John,

Absolutely no problem for me whatsoever.
My wife on the other hand is at present searching for a lead doll and her sewing kit.

It's even closer to work, so I reckon in a 15 minute break, I can get to my car, drive there, lose, oh I don't know, let's say quite a lot of money, and get back to work and still have a couple of minutes left to sup a luke warm coffee. :)

These are all I now have on display. I have sold a half a dozen sets at the West Coaster. I have the others in storage. I have decided to keep some of the sets (e.g., the 12-man Boer War set) I was going to sell to use on a Boer War train if I can pick one up in Chicago.

That would be neat. If you don't find one maybe we can build one.:)

Those are nice photos; certainly seems like a nice collection.
Thanks for posting the pics.
