Continuing my Murder on the Nile mystery...

EDIT: Would you believe this was intended as a German Afrikakorps troop transport from Italy across the Mediterranean to North Africa? I had to photo edit the Germans out of the original picture, although the Captain is still steering the ship. Poirot replaced a German officer I used at the bow. I thought the addition of the Sphinx (from one of my own pictures) was a nice addition. Interestingly, I had replaced the actual ship's flag with a WWII German flag only to replace it with a photo-edited British flag.

If you look carefully, you may find a murder weapon in the scene.

My thought was to also include a few passengers creating a more of "Death on the Nile" scene. Perhaps I may retake the picture after I add a few characters.

Great photo!👍👍. It reminds me of a series of books I read years ago about a pair of married archeologists, and eventually their son and daughter-in -law, who investigated mysteries along the Nile around the turn of the 20th Century.

Thanks Louis. Sounds like an interesting series. I always liked the mystery and archaeology genres.

I'm sure Professor Plum played a part as well. {sm4} That gives me an idea...

I like it Rob, not so much that big knife though.
Threw that in just for fun, Robin. ^&grin

Here's a vintage version of the scene:

The series is by Elizabeth Peters (the pen name of Egyptologist Barbara Mertz). The main characters are Amelia Peabody (a suffragette who inherits a fortune and pursues her dream of becoming an Egyptologist) and her rival Egyptologist, and eventual husband, Radcliffe Emerson. The first book, Crocodile on the Sandbank, is set in 1884, and the 20th book takes the characters into WWI. The books give pretty darn accurate portrayals of the real Egyptologists working during this time period, including Howard Carter, and have the feel of a cross between Agatha Christe and H. Ryder Haggard. I picked up the first book on my honeymoon, and read the entire series. I highly recommend it if you'd like a fun read.
