Steve Weston German WW I Tank offensive. (1 Viewer)

This would be frightening for the defenders seeing all this coming at you. Robin,

Even though I enjoy painting toy soldiers I really appriciate a well laid out set up with minimal painting and accessories. This is a reminder of all the toy soldier playing I did as a kid. Thanks for the flashback.

Nice lay out scene, impressive and historical well done,in fact in was in two town were the few main engagement of the A7V HAPPEN

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A7V
INTERSTING not toy related facts with wanting toy related wish.

After reading two books I disagree in the fact the German A7V tank performed bad at all, being 20 only done and with only 7 lost in action or abandon after braking in 9 different action/battles I consider way more reliable than the British MARK series that by instance in the first use of their heavy MARK IV(The Battle of Flers–Courcelette (15–22 September 1916) Out 49 ,only 18 enter action because rest had mechanical problems in just advancing from rear position to front lines of 21 km only.
In next big action when deployed over 65 MARK;another 21 were lost to mechanical problems ,3 to mines ,2 to artillery ,4 to other causes and 3 to enemy fire else wile only 12 made to front TARGET and rest slow way back with out taking any action or reaching their objective with many lost or missing.
Again a lot losses for few able to do any .Even so the overall action was shocking surprise the general performance of main percentage British tank fail to archive any action at all versus German machines percentage losses in mechanical/action explained in books .

Last massive British tank action Battle of Cambria .Of a total of new delivery 476 MARK IV. Only 378 made to front line by start of action and 178 were complete loss do mechanical stopping and mines plus artillery barrage , air attack and hand grenades able to destroy in their slow movement in mass formation line. Even both side claim victory in this battle ,the Germans capture 13 tanks and put back to use two on same battle .Again showing both mechanical issues and tactical problems of British tank versus German odd models with more durability and less brake down wile best used in tactical actions.

In first tank to tank action recorded, the German single tank A7V was able to engage three MARK IV ,wile damaging 2 British female machine gunned tanks and the one BRITISH tank with cannon able to damage it,after 6 hits on the German only ; momentary Germans loose the machine to be retake back by them later in same day.
The combat incredible is considered a "even match"!? or inconclusive!!??
Both literally have same cannon caliber and the British employed smaller models light tank in same day action .
It also show that the one German machine put in combat sustaining damage and stop but was able to move back wile the later ""victor"" only British tank LEFT was abandon after damages and mechanical issues=Complete loss.
So in this action one tank(German) damage two(British) with heavy damage and wounded crews in then forcing to retire wile itself is temporary damage and later recover but only surviving BRITISH tank is abandon after damage do to ("other causes") they said.

I do no consider it a match, if is victory x British is with heavy losses ,if is match is too , as sustain more losses .

In entire combat on that day German used total 3 A7V tanks wile British used 3 MARK IV tanks and 7 TO 9 light whipped models .

German loose ONE ,but recovery by starting-fixing it and ABLE to drive it back in same day, wile British loose 1 MACK IV complete ,2 heavy damage and 3-5 light tanks complete destroyed by combined enemy fire.
So as conclusion x entire day action- Germans out 3A7V, lost 1 =partially 30% out total forces employed, as was recovered later wile British out 3 heavy MARK IV +7 or "9" light tanks =10-LEAST-total ,had 4 complete lost =45% LEAST, plus two heavy damage that should be 60% least in general tank looses of that day used in same action in same area during same engagement by BRITISH
Both side tanks were expose the enemies artillery and infantry fire at same time acting against their foe .
That is not inconclusive ,that is win and lost tank action.
In tank losses British were the losers-Sorry ,the numbers and facts are clear.
That the one British tank manage to damage the one single opponent does not mean the tank action was a success ,specially after the British retreat too with losses and did not advance more but lost terrain that day.

The A7V was not unreliable in my opinion at all ,just too few to do any services and fail more much less in campaign and action than the same type heavy machine in greater number of their foes ( type MARK series)That with over 2000 produced 1775 used in direct action or war and staggering 478 complete losses plus 271 damage in action and scratch plus 50 captured of which aprox 25 were reused by Germans -general total losses 799 lost.

Again numbers, percentage ,statistic contradict what books said and repeated creating a false idea.

In the other hand and going back to toy related matter collectible tanks made.
British much lighter tank(Medium Mark A Whippet ) with only 200 build during war and less than 126 ever seen action in last 10 month of war only lost 47 in action/else ,22 damage and recover repair wile inflicted more damage in much short time , broke much less and were far faster plus well armed protected enough against armor piercing bullets and grenades or light mortars and clearly able to cup with fast infantry advance ,same time less easy to get stock in mud because less heavy is considered by me a more much reliable machine as tank trench warfare tactical employed.
This model tank has not been done in Plastic-1.32 and I was expecting to be done in the same line of Steve Weston but did not as x now and long Steve Weston stop making any new toys so far I guess.
