an important distinction between obsessive compulsive disorder and 'addictions' such as alcohol, gambling ,sex, toy soldiers
, heroin or cigarettes is that with addictions the activity is usually inherently pleasurable or enjoyable and the indivdual at some stage has made a decision to start or continue these activities whereas in Obessive compulsive disorder there is no pleasure or joy in the activity, it is distressing for the individual and they in no sense play any part in starting or continuing it..With help OCD is treatable,
as regards addictions (and its only termed an addiction if its harmful) thats down to indivdual as to whether they are in the frame of mind to stop their pleasurable activity which is causing them harm
