Clive is looking at having the clear stands made. I believe he's just in the process of having them refined, so as to get maximum stability and to make them as discreet as possible. I'd contact Clive at Grey Goose if you're after them.
Simon
cheer for the intell Simon ,any chance of seeing your Figarti train dio ?
Hmmm....the train dio is yet to be realised. It's all part of the great master plan. I was planning on sticking a 5 foot train dio, elevated above a 5 foot Pegasus Bridge dio.
I'm planning to cunningly disguise them by placing a shoe catalogue and a handbag brochure on a stand next to the dios, so that attention is drawn away from the aquisitions. That should extend my life expectency by a few days, by which time I'll have come up with a winning arguement. Or have emmigrated. Or moved in to the shed......
Just need a little time to get them sorted. It will be built! ^&grin
Well my train dio in the loft out of harm way but like you a on going project which is part of a bigger v2 diorama
Cheers Simon for the info mate.
Hi Guys,
Re the stands.
Wayne. you're right these were made for the show so as to display the stukas in a diving position. The winter one was made to show it in horizontal flight.
(Without a pilot in situ we have to assume he bailed out earlier.!!)
Problem I had was explaining to the acrylic manufacturer what I wanted and these are his 3rd attempts (probably as much down to my poor sketches as his lack of understanding)
I wanted something unobtrusive but stable and although these do the job there are a couple of drawbacks. The rear upstand is 12ins high the front 8ins so all the weight (although not heavy) rests on the front upstand. As it is made from 3mm acrylic there is some movement. This could be braced between the 2 upstands but then becomes too obtrusive.
The second issue is that the acrylic although polished edge is pretty harsh on the cowling of the plane so I'm improving on that with a small foam strip.
The 3rd issue is cost, these are coming in at circa £25, there would be some discount for volume but still not cheap with shipping on top.
So,not ready for broad distribution, let me continue to refine them and I'm quite happy to share details of the finished product so that you guys could have them made locally or I see if I can make it more viable.
Regards
Clive
I have considered hanging these Stukas with 17 Lbs clear fishing linefrom the ceiling but I am unsure as to how I would attach the fishingline to the model...has anyone tried this or considered this option???....Too Risky to damage model?????....what are your thoughts gentlemen on this.
