K&C is expanding into a few niche ranges. American West, Falklands etc. I spoke to Andy briefly at the West Coaster and suggested he bring back the American Rev series. He was a bit reluctant, understandably. I do think a pirate/Navy series may be a complementary but slightly better investment. What say you?

My first choice would of course be to see more AWI figures. However I would be very interested in a pirate or a naval series.

Perhaps a release of figures based on the characters from Robert Louis Stevenson's "Treasure Island" !

I've been wanting the same thing for many moons now , thought it to be a popular range?
seem dang hard to find to day , at any price

I thought K&C did well financially with the AWI line? I would like to see a little something for AWI. There are a lot of “Naval-ish” opportunities with the AWI - attack on Fort Mchenry - Boston Tea Party - Washington crossing the Delaware, etc. Boyer

Pirates would be fabulous

no one has done anything since Conte

I think there could be some opportunity in historical pirates and the colonial Caribbean. Plenty of military activity and there are some big names from that era, Henry Morgan being one of the most renowned. The line could branch into Spanish Conquistadors as well.

Perhaps Andy won’t thank me for mentioning this, but a few years ago he kindly asked my son and I up to his offices in HK (what an Aladdin’s cave of treasures that is!).

He did in fact have some pirate masters which were rather splendid and which naturally caught the boy’s eye - as I recall he also had a ship to go with. His comments at the time were essentially that he considered it too hard to make and transport the ship at a sensible cost and what are pirates without their ship?

Perhaps the enthusiasm of collectors and the passing of the years may give him pause for thought on this one… but of course he is best placed to comment himself if he wishes!

I remember that Conte had a prototype pirate ship and he said the same thing that it would be too hard to ship. It was a great looking ship.

cheers

Yes, my friend you are correct… A number of years back K&C designed and built a ‘Pirate Ship’, loosely based on Sir Francis Drake’s ‘Golden Hind’…The prototype still proudly sits in my office in Hong Kong together with a motley crew of King & Country Pirates manning the guns and ready for battle…

Just a couple of little ‘flies in the ointment’…The cost of the special wooden packing case together with the atrocious costs of shipping such a large case to Europe, Australasia or the U.S. was humongous!!! Much more than the actual cost of the ship model itself….So, sadly that particular series was drowned at birth… and ended up in the deep of Davy Jones’ Locker!

C’est La vie…C’est La guerre in the wonderful world of toy soldiers,
Andy.

kings ransom.jpg years ago I came across this ship, its RC remote control but its 54mm scale which I use for pirates from Conte and Russian made, have about 35 figures on it so its large, but would love to see KC or someone make a detailed one

I build wooden ship models so I'm certainly a big fan! To be honest though, I don't really see a need for a ship. Plenty of shore actions involving pirates and the Royal Navy/Marines.
