Hi everyone as many of you know I live in Scotland. I have always been attracted by the idea of creating a small diorama display of the Roman 9th Legion under attack by British Barbarians.

Has anyone created a similar display and could give me some ideas? TG Romans attract me due to price and detail!

I do not have a display that you are contemplating, but a suggestion might be two wooded hills 6" wide converging on a road 4" wide in the center with Picts coming out of the woods on either side. You might only need 4-5 Romans on a side with Centurion in the center. If you have the Picts/ enemy emerging from woods you won't need many. I hope this helps.

I recently posted two Roman dioramas under the General Matt Discussion thread, Death of a Legion and Siege of Aquilia ; which you may find of interest. The film Centurion is based on the destruction of the 9th Legion by the Caladonians , predecessors of the Picts. The legion in line of march through a defile was attacked on both flanks and destroyed before they could deploy. The same scenario that happened in the battle of the Teutoberg Forest. A legion on the march is vulnerable to flank attack by a numerically superior; but technically inferior force that is motivated.

Have been going through the old Roman figures made by TG and really like them and am verging on putting in an order. Thinking of adding these figures for a first wave (all 9th Legion)
