Just been reading a post in another thread by OzDigger, about crazies and it made me think about Law enforcement in Ancient Rome, their nearest thing to a Police Force in Rome was the Vigiles, who's main task was putting out fires, but did also take up the slack where the Urban Cohorts were used more for controlling crowds / riots.
Perhaps Andy might consider doing a few figures of these two organisations as they would fit in with his other Police figures in collections specialising in the Police ?
Anyway, long term imprisonment wasn't a thing the Romans went in for, though the courts were always busy.
Anyone who has ever read Steven Saylor's excellent novel "Roman Blood", will remember the gruesome punishment for Patricide, that of being tied up in a sack, with a Monkey a Snake and a Chicken, sometimes other animals and thrown into the Tiber.
Anyway, a quick little scene, with the woman being offered a human (Gollum) head by the Butcher and his arrest, though of course I am just using a Centurion and a Legionary here.
