For those of you who own the WS or BOB tank riders, do they eaisly scrap off the paint jobs on tanks/their own boots when you play around with them?

I am extremely worried that I will scrap paint off if I am not gentle while "playing" with the AK tank riders (this is the first 'rider' set that i bought ever).

I have thrown lots of coins at my guys when i line them up for wargames and they seem to be OK.

Is this the right time to say that my Jagdpanther riders got loads of paint chips from falling off the back of the jagdpanther. Especially the standing up guy. :)

Oberstoskar,
Any time you have painted metal resting on metal you increase the likelihood of chipping. I've seen a lot of chipped boots and such on older retired items that people want to trade in or sell. A common example is chips of paint around the holes in the hands of rickshaw drivers where the metal rickshaw handle rests on some older Streets of Old Hong Kong pieces. Most of the scrapes occur where the contact is though so you don't see them when the items are displayed.
Don't let concern for possible chipping ruin your enjoyment of changing the look of your displays. In the event you do chip something and want it fixed there are several excellent painters on the board who could do touch ups for you.

Really? who are they? I recently bought a '2nd hand' AK sdkfz 222 from ebay (seller ID soccertammy from USA) and the crewman is badly chipped (of course the defects didn't show on the ebay photo)

If I plan to repaint myself, what paint is recommended?

I beleive K & C have said they use Tamiya for repair jobs so you may want to try that. However, I was told by a friend who was very good at touch ups that K & C uses a combination or a mixture of paints to get the desired color so if you do your own you should experiment first.

Vallejo makes many useful military colors also. Easier to work with in my opinian. try priming the area that needs attention 1st . Some makers do NOT primer figures before painting.
Have fun playing.
fubar

Here is the link to the area of the forum where painting, repairing etc. services are offered: http://www.treefrogtreasures.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=51
Alexdakar also does good work (and is not listed there) and I can also give you the name of someone who does museum-quality restorations who also fixes paint issues.
Regards,

I was also planning a MASH type hospital dio as an after thought following the air rifle game, this is where I saw off a few heads and arms and stick them back on (not necessarily to the same figures they came off) for a bit of variety. Can anybody tell me if this will cause the paint to scrape off and will it increase the value of my beloved K&C collection?
Just a thought! :)

Oh the open tins of Humbrol and the various K&C medics running triage with matte oil brown #5!

I'd love to see that dio!

I agree Vallejo is way easier to work with.

In terms of colour match for that particular figure, depending on what areas need touching up, I would use the following (bit of a mixture, including acryllics and enamels):

Trousers: Vallejo 102 German Fieldgrey
Shirt: Humbrol 103 Matt enamel
Skin: Citadel Dwarf Flesh
Black bits: Take your pick from any matt black
Belt / holster / comms link: Humbrol 5 gloss enamel

The shirt colour works out a little lighter, but they're as close as I could get the match from my stock of paint. If you've got bare metal showing, i would also build up the colours in two or three layers.

Hope that's of some help.

Simon
