Tanker re-stock (1 Viewer)

Here is a quote with reference from Feldgrau:

Not a dumb question at all, rather a very difficult and confused subject to understand. These units wore their own Waffenfarbe, but what that Waffenfarbe was often depended on their unit. The Panzergr-Regt. and Panzerfüsilier-Regt. of GD wore white piping on their Sturmartillerie uniforms issued in January, 1944 since that was the only color worn as Waffenfarbe by this division.

An example of a just plain chaotic war situation is PG-Lehr-Regtr. 901 and 902 of Panzer-Lehr-Division. In the spring of 1944 they were outfitted in Sturmartillerie uniforms with meadow green piping. After the heavy fighting in Normandy their unifoms were in poor condition. One of their supply officers located a stock of Sturmartillerie uniforms, but with golden yellow piping. These units wore golden yellow Waffenfarbe for the rest of the war; not because it was correct but because it was on the uniforms they were issued.

The black Panzer uniform in SPW's usually would only be worn by PAA units. They wore either gold yellow or rose pink depending on their units(PAA of Panzer-Divisionen 1-5 wore rose pink thru out the war regardless of regulations.)

Most of this information is from Bob Edwards' and Mike Pruett's book FIELD UNIFORMS OF THE GERMAN ARMY PANZER FORCES IN WORLD WAR 2.

All of this is correct and deals with the color of the Waffenfarben not the tunics

Black uniforms were not issued to PG Infantry. Panzer Lehr PG were issued Fieldgrau panzer style wrappers. I think the photo posted with the FL figures and the Figarti Panther G look great. I do wish the Panzer Kommanders with Binoculars would be re-released as they are very flexible in use, in, on, or beside a Panzer. You can never have too many Panzerwaffe IMO.

This is main reason, why I decided not to buy as much as I can, in this hobby, now. The fear of buying something where there is something wrong with the figure, or the tank or the..... On how it will feel if some time down the road. Someone is going to point out something that is not right with the piece. for it to be pointed out, will kill the excitement of having the piece for me.
I wonder how many people that was once collectors, is now gone. Because their favorite piece has got something wrong with the piece, and was pointed out. That it was a lemon. Not an apple... Who wants to spend money on a lemon, when its an apple that they want... A $200 apple, not a $200 lemon.
Maybe this is how this hobby will die, died because instead of enjoying the piece. We put it so much in a microscope, that the manufacturers will be afraid to put on the wrong shade of pink on a piece....
That will be a shame won't it......

Don't think that the reason for one moment and long as your happy with it was does it matter ?

Errors happen with all products all the time. Lack of research, poor quality control and cost cutting measures result in errors and omissions. Most problems can be easily corrected with a bit of paint, a decal or a part added. Collectors should develop basic modeling skills to be able to repair or correct defects in the figures and models they collect. A great deal of satisfaction comes with the ability to improve a figure or model to a higher standard of quality or accuracy.

I collect Antiques as well as Toy Soldiers and Antiques are never perfect. The ability to repair and restore a piece is essential IMO. I recently purchased a vintage clock in as is, non functional condition. I repaired the clock by resoldering a loose wire and it not only works; but it is now worth
4X what I paid for it.

Well, it does talk about tunics worn by the Panzer Lehr which is an anomaly, as well as their Waffenfarben. It also mentions the black tunics worn by the PAA (recon) units, as well as describing differences.

Gebs, I am not arguing with you. I have seen evidence that you know more about uniforms that I do since it is not an area of close study for me.

All too often forgotten is the Panzerwaffe had other uniforms than the standard and iconic black wrap Panzer Uniforms. While toy soldier manufacturers always seem to portray Panzer troops in their full black uniforms, they never seem to give any attention to the more utilitarian uniforms like the Reed Green HBT (herringbone twill), denim or cotton items. Mid to late war, these uniforms were the ones that seemed to be worn the most (especially during summertime).

Personally I'd prefer to see First Legion do some renditions of these uniforms before we see yet more all black Panzertruppen.

I'd like to see FL make a WSS panzer crew in wraps made with Camo Material, that's my point there is just so much more to make. I just don't wanna see them waste time re-hashing the exact same figures over and over every couple of years when they sell out.

I know it sucks when you miss a figure you would like to have, its happened to me as well but forward is the way I'd like to see them go.

I do not see any reason FL cannot do both; new and old figures. Perhaps the old figures repainted in camouflage.

FL should re-release the Stalingrad Stugs and NAP Russian Taurides{sm4}{sm4}{sm4}:salute::
