I am sure that you guys have seen and maybe collect from Tedtoy. I just thought I would mention it in case you have not or do not. I have been getting the line for a long time and really like the guy, and love his work. He put things out that are really unique.

Hi Bama Boy,

I have collected a few of Ted's wonderful ACW camp scenes. I find them to be most clever and they never fail to bring a smile to my face. I also agree, Ted is a very nice guy. I have known him for several years and I have always experienced great warmth and friendship with him.

I would be interested in learning more about the Tedtoy figures you have in your collection. Would you mind sharing that information with us?

Warmest personal regards,

Pat :)

I second everything Pat said about Ted. Although I presently just purchase the Monarch Regalia figures from him, I admire his ACW figures very much.

He just finished his cavalry group with this set:

I would love to! Let me say that I would love to have all of the sets but $$$ keeps me from it!

1. TUG O' WAR
This set speaks for itself! Includes laughing corporal, bather with cigar in half-barrel tub, pants, dog, bucket, stool and sign.

What a great set! Something you do not see everyday!

2. TEN-SHUN!
This set represents perhaps the most universal of military images! Includes 4 privates at order arms and sergeant chewing out petrified private.

I have asked him to make me a second rank. He said he would. I just do not have the $$$$ to make it happen!

3.ORDERS!
A general turned in his saddle, cigar between pointing fingers, is shouting orders down to a saluting junior officer.

This set works great on its own, in battle or in camp!

The cigar in the officers hand is a great little touch! This is the only Confederate set I have from Ted.

4.AT EASE
As depicted here, the soldier's life was not all hard marching and fighting. This single piece has Billy Yank or Johnny Reb in repose, barefoot and snoozing with his kepi pulled down over his eyes.

This is a set is great! The soldier without his brogans on is great!!

5. THE ROUT
The soldiers' camp was often as dangerous a place as the battlefield. Early morning attacks at such places as Shiloh or Cedar Creek proved that the enemy could attack at any time sending soldiers flying half-dressed from their tents in a terrible rout. Well, sometimes the enemy didn't wear blue or grey, but black and white - and a tail.
This new camp life set includes one figure scrambling out on his knees holding back the tent flap and gasping for fresh air. The other figure has charged his way out of the tent, one arm outstretched and one arm covering his nose and mouth. Of course the set also includes the skunk and the tent.

Where else do you find this?! I have been collecting for many years. I am looking for the figures or sets that will draw one's attention to it!

I have almost all of the union cavalry sets. I have combined them with the Imrie Risley mounted figs that I put together and painted. They worked very well together!

I also have the campfire, corn and the stack of muskets. (There may be more but things are packed up so I cannot remember.) All of these are very well done. Again if I could afford it, I do not believe there would not be anything he would make that I would not want.

I don't collect TedToy figures as such, but I do own one:

This figure was the premium a couple of years ago, for renewing subscriptions to Toy Soldier & Model Figure. I think he's supposed to represent Stonewall Jackson, but I painted him as a generic Confederate general.

It is a very nice casting, I only wish the base weren't so thick.

Prost!

Hi Jeremie,

Thanks for the summary of your Tedtoy figures! It appears you enjoy Ted's clever camp scenes as much as I do. One set you did not mention is Ted's set that is titled, "Drumsticks." In this set, we see a Drummer Boy chasing his lunch. I have posted a couple pictures of my set below. You might note the wonderfully detailed drum the Boy is carrying on his back. I hope you enjoy viewing it!

Warmest personal regards,

Pat :)

Welcome Jeremie

Ted does have some very nice figures. One of my favourites is "The Rout"

Pat that is another nice set, something a little different and not seen everyday. Thanks for sharing it with us.

I love this set too! I would love to have it! I will someday, I hope.

I have 8 of Ted's Union cavalry on patrol. He makes one of the best ACW glossies out there! His customers must like his stuff 'cause I never see any of his stuff being re-sold... :)

I have about 6 of his sets from the early/mid 1990's. They used to come in a wooden box. I haven't looked at them in years. I used to collect civil war soldiers before I got into KC WWII.

That's a nice drummer boy you have Pat. But I'm sure he's trying to save the chicken's life by herding it into the coop before the fox gets it :)

Ted is a great guy and his work is excellent. I have made several dioramas using his infantry and artillery sets. He will also do some custom work with uniforms and head gear. I mixed his figures with Trophy ACW and they go nicely.

Hi All!
For those of you that might not know this, Ted has been doing most of the master figure painting of the Classic Gloss Redcoats, Bluecoats and Limited edition Bands for W. Britain under 1st Gear. A few of the Classics get painted by others including Richard, Wendy, and Myself from time to time, but Ted has been painting the Lion's share for us for about three years now.
He is a true professional and a pleasure to work with.
