I just started and don't have much to tell, and being new maybe you did this already, but I think it will be a lot of fun. Then we can tell our wives "look how much stuff he has" and we might get clearence to buy more stuff. I guess it will not help the biggest collectors, but you can take one for the team....Alex

Well, I've been collecting for almost two years and I have about two hundred different King and Country sets. When I add the new Eighth Army that will put me over the top so to speak. The favorite part of my collection are the old King and Country Warbirds that I have, only 3: an RAF Spitfire that Andy says is rare because it has an error and 2 ME 109s, the First of the Few Spitfire pilots and groundcrew to go with it and a Clark Gable figure. I've branched out a little bit from World War II, having added an old K & C band, a few Royal Navy figures and my latest interest, Rough Riders. I have 3 of those and am on the lookout for more. All that in almost two years of collecting. I love the North African theater and have (and will have) all the Eight Army sets and I have all the Afrika Korp sets since AK 11 (except for one). So, you can make me the poster for your wife ;)

Boy that sounds great .....I heard the Eighth Army stuff was really nice ..........I forget that WWII is not the only stuff around, I see you have some other stuff in your collection.......Alex

No doubt some wag will say errors aren't so rare on King and Country models :)

I collect glossy WW1,glossy ACW,flat Napoleonics, glossy Zulu War,flat K/C WW2...........most of my K/C is armor and vehicles. I am an armor-head anyway and because like most, I have a limited budget for soldiers, I am finding it easier to pick and choose to support my habit. Think about it, a robust K/C vehicle and figures for the same price as 4 K/C infantry. which would you pick? Michael

Whatever but this increases the value.

I mostly collect 54mm WWII figures and about 60% is King & Country. The rest consist of Conte, HJB, HB, Frontline, Britains, Del Prado, Patriot, ONWTC, FOV, etc, etc. I also have some 1/35 stuff that I have built and 20mm WWII figures.

Speaking of amor.....although I am new to the 1/32 stuff, I have years into 1/35 scale, which many will say is the more detailed stuff. Most of what I have collected in armor in 1/32, has been Forces of Valor, granted there figures are not too good, But the vehicles are fantastic. That is why I am having trouble buying any of the K&C Britians etc. at those hefty prices. I don't see where they are that much better, or better at all. Of course scale and size are a problem. What am I missing?!!!!!!!!.....Aex

With K&C you'll fall in love with their figures and pretty soon your buying their armor to compliment the figures. I'm still into 1/35 scale and you get a hard work satisfaction but with K&C you get an instant satisfaction. Once your collection grows you get a wow collection satisfaction. So what are you going for or like many of the forum member say "collect it if you like it".

I started out about 10 years ago collecting the russian made aeroart/St. Petersburg figures. Have something from almost every era but mostly civil war, Romans, Napoleonic figures. I still collect them, but more selectively now due to space concerns. The one hole in their product line is WWII. So I started collecting KC figures more recently as they have improved significantly over the years and are still at a reasonable price. Mostly German figures and tanks. Not sure about numbers but have the entire fall of berlin series, much of the Afrika Korps, a few bulge.

The K&C Soldiers, I am sold on, no doubt. I just bought my first Bulge and Ranger sets. But I see a lot of the members complain about the vehicles. I will buy them because of the scale. But I do like the Metal, the working bogey wheels and treads of the FOV. And I still don't see why K&C vehicles cost more. If FOV made good figures, their stuff is all I would buy, as a matter of fact I did buy the few metal figures they did, and they were not bad at all. It is no big deal, just provoking some discussion.............Alex

Alex,

The reason FOV costs less than K & C is that FOV is mass produced, hence economies of scale, that can drastically cut the costs down. K & C tanks are produced in relatively small numbers. I believe the most K & C has ever made of one tank is Wittman's last Tiger, around 2,000. That is the reason.

OK............... lets get back to the Collections. I find the extent of some of you collections fantastic, tell us more.............

I started collecting in 1993. Originally I collected whatever I found, be it Britains, Frontline, Trophy, Imperial, Heritage, Tradition, Mignot, some Russian stuff, and King & Country. Now I principally focus on collecting all K&C products except for the LAH, West, and Dickens figures. I have all of the wood metal and resin vehicles Andy ever sold except one resin Hanomag, 45 wood warbirds, all the polystone vehicles, all of the wood and papier mache buildings, all of the polystone buildings and building facades except the new Streets of Hong Kong facades, 12 K&C made diorama bases and in the ranges I collect, all but 20 figures K&C has made since 1984, in addition to another 2000 non-K&C figures that are mostly in boxes.

Hi Guys,

I saw this thread and thought it would be good to answer it and see if some of the new folks on the forum wanted to chat about what they have in their collections. I for one would love to see Louis' colection it sounds amazing. I have a fairly large and diverse collection that I have been building on since I was a kid. I have s few dimestore individuals and a few lone knights and of course a ton of old castings I did with my dad and painted up so I could wage my own back yard campaigns.

I picked up some really nice sets in 95 while on my honeymoon in New Zealand and a pair of lone Britains mounted figures one is a Life Guards Trooper and the other is a Hussar. I also have a lot of Frontline Glossy sets from their Zulu War and Sudan War series and I have some very nice sets from Tradition and Trophy that I found at a shop while I was stationed in Germany from 90-95. Amazing what you can find when you stumble into a shop while you significant other is in the Christmas Ornament shop.

But as most of you know my collection is nearly all Britains figures and I really focus on the British Raj or Colonial sets from various places around the world. I have a nearly complete series of the Delhi Durbar from Britains of which I have 23 sets on display and I have the Dias and several sets still in my wifes good boy or birthday prize box. I also have made a nice dent in Marlboroughs line for the Durbar and I have 8 mixed into my display and several more sets in the prize box. If and when we settle down and stop moving every 3 years I'll probably sit down and build a display for the whole series and finally be able to enjoy it.

I also have a lot of Napoleonic sets from various makers and have recently branched into Winged Hussars from the various Russian makers that offer them for sale on ebay. They are really great looking Hussars and if I can ever get some Turkish Infantry I may have to do a display for them as well.

I also have some tanks from WWI and WWII which are currently in their boxes but they will be put out one day. The only 60mm I have are from NMA so I will say that I am a Britains Collector and leave it at that.

Hope some of the new folks will tell us about their collections.

Dave

Hy there,
I have a nice collection wargames figures in 25/28 mm and 40 mm. I only collect metal figures. I have for the moment about 3.500 pieces. I'm a member of the Antwerp Wargameclub (Tin Soldiers of Antwerp - 125 members) and I play one or two times in a month a big battle with 6-8 other fellows. Mostly Napoleonic and WW II.
Two years ago I discovered K&C when I was in London. As I have for the moment enough figures for wargaming (and as I don't want to paint figures for the rest of my life), I have decided to collect the Napoleonic and WW II range from K&C.
I would like to collect enough figures to play a 60 mm skirmish wargame with some friends. In the meantime I am building some diorama's that will fit in a wargame scenario. I also have bought some LAH figures. I don't care about the historical or political meaning of this particular figures. In the last campaign I was Hitler himself :D and it seems I have played my role very well. Indeed we have a lot of fun in Antwerp!

I've got about 2,000 20mm painted ACW metal figures, about 5,000 Napoleonics and about 3,000 WWII figures. I've also got about 500 painted WWII vehicles and loads of buildings, bunkers, bridges, hedgerows, trees etc. My WWII interests are ETO from Normandy 1944 to Berlin 1945, Russian Front from 1942 to 1945 and the Pacific 1942 to 1945. Best of luck finding those missing 20 K & C figures maistro................

I grew up in the antiques/collectibles business:

I have lots of tin military vehicles spaning over 90 years of toy production, lots of books on just about all types of toy and miniature collecting, vintage woodcut novels, lots of different types of soldiers (the more esoteric the better - anybody ever hear of Krolyn?), lots of vinatge diecast from Dinky, Corgi & Marklin and just odds and ends of things I thought were cool at the time. I also have a lot King & Country as many of you know from our eBay adventures.
