Here is another one for you guys. For those of you wondering the mounted German will make an appearance soon and there will be at least 3 more German infantry types to help him overcome the last of the Romans!

Not entirely sure how the Romans lost given how heavily they outnumber the Germans at present!
Abdale. J | Four Days in September |
Clunn. T | Lost Roman Legions |
McNally. M | Teutoburg Forest AD 9: The Destruction of Varus and His Legions |
Murdoch. A | Rome's Greatest Defeat: Massacre in the Teutoburg Forest |
There is loads of videos and books on the 4 days of battles,I know where you are coming from, but the same can be said about many different battles, Rorke's Drift, Agincourt, Lacolle Mills, Siege of Malta and many many more. I would recommend the following as good reads into the Battles over the 4 days,
Abdale. J Four Days in September Clunn. T Lost Roman Legions McNally. M Teutoburg Forest AD 9: The Destruction of Varus and His Legions Murdoch. A Rome's Greatest Defeat: Massacre in the Teutoburg Forest
I think subterfuge and knowing the ground over which they fought played a huge part, with the Legions not able to deploy to use their strength and training.
I also like some of the historical fiction written on the loss of the Legions, to get a 'feel' as they are often wrote by historians and others who have undertaken a lot of research and used a bit imagination to bring to us the more human context on what could be a 'dry' subject.
mHere is another one for you guys.

Think Nelson was making quite a good joke about the number of Romans TG have made compared with the amount of German foe, rather than historically !^&grin
I was indeed attempting a little wit, but I am also very grateful for the added bonus of what are sure to be some interesting historical pointers - thank you!
