I want to thank Brian (Warbuff) for setting up the web cam at Louis,s house for Andy,s talk.
Those who didn,t log on missed a good time.
I took a few notes on upcoming releases that Andy spoke about so here goes.
For June, more DDay sets includeing a U.S. patrol jeep w/ M.g., glider infantry, Omar Bradley and U.S. paratoopers in dress uniforms.
For July, more Germans, nothing specific.
August, Napolianics Coldstream guards, Andy said these will be the best ever.
For Sept. Brit 1st Airborne, 6 to 8 sets including vehicles.
No release date given, FOB, British Dunkirk, rear guard in fighting poses, more French including French artillary.
I hope I didn,t miss anything, I,m sure the people at the symposium will have much more to add.

Re: Thanks Brian, Symposium

Yes, thank you Brian. That was cool because not only could we see and hear Andy but we could ask him questions.

Cheers Brian:

Many thanks again for providing the "viewing." Your efforts were appreciated.

Brian

Yes thanks again for web casting Andys talk today. Technology is great, except it makes me feel like Kip from Napolean Dynamite when I view it. Guess I'm going to be chatting with babes all day on line. Like I said, I'll buy a drink in Chicago if I bump into you.

Re: Thanks Brian, Symposium

Six to eight sets of Paras including vehicles sounds good to me.Also like the sound of that jeep and glider inf.I'm probably going to get the Nap Guards as well.

I changed the title of the thread to get more viewership.

I have to run now but I'll try to post things as I remember them.

Andy addressed various subects.

Another 88: Not in the near future. He said he would eventually but not right now.

Thanks for the info Brad, its still good to know that we may get one in the future. Were Fallschirmjagers mentioned at all?

The 88 seemed like a sure bet. Hopefully we get a couple different versions - AK, winter, generic! Looking forward to any info on the new warbirds.

I suppose the last 88mm wasn't that long ago really, but i agree an AK and winter version would be my choice too.Its an iconic piece of weaponry and the worlds best toy soldier company can really do it justice.Still there is so much good stuff to buy that i can wait until Andys ready to do it.

Back from going to the mall with my family. I forgot to ask about FJ but I have a feeling they're coming.

In no special order here goes,

Limited Editions

There will not be one until July and Andy doesn't see more than three this year. He wouldn't say what they would be. He was asked about a Napoleonics Limited Edition. Andy didn't say no but he didn't say yes either. He said this is something they would like to do, so nothing in the near future.

K & C will not produce a M3 Grant a la Monty. He thinks FOV does a great job and he doesn't want to duplicate that. Speaking of FOV, he thinks they do a great job with many of the more common single engine fighters (he said he and Gordon had many in their collection) so I don't see this as something they will do.

Arnhem

There will be no German sets. Andy feels he has made enough other German sets that you can use in Arnhem so he wants to exclusively focus on the Airborne.

He said that this will not be the only Arnhem sets they will do so we can look for more next year.

World War One

More German in action poses later this year, to be eventually followed by French in the future, Belgiums (!), Commonwealth (not sure whether he said UK or other nationalities) and Americans. He eventually envisions tanks, airplanes, etc.

If the looks of the troops that Andy had on display are any indication, this is going to be a fantastic range. I'm very excited about it.

Battle of the Bulge

Later this year, presumably to be issued on schedules similar to 2005 and 2006.

Fields of Battle

He would like to do other campaigns besides Dunkirk but no concrete plans yet in mind.

Airplanes

Andy had hoped that the Storch would have been out already but it's not quite ready and he's planning on visiting the factory that is going to make them when he gets. I think he said July timeframe for release. The price point will be $199 to $299. I don't know if anybody asked about other planes from what he calls factory produced planes.

Regarding what he calls the Connoisseur planes, he is still formalizing his plans on distribution. However, he's going require a fifty percent deposit. So, if your name is picked for a plane, you will need to ante up. He will be doing between 10 to 20 of each. I believe the first two will be Typhoons and ME 110s with different markings than those already issued. I saw both of these planes and they are stunning. The see through cockpit (with clearly visible instrument panel) in the Typhoon is amazing as is the paint job and they are heavy. Andy envisions as a ballpark figure and don't hold me or him to this that shipping for one would be $75.

Andy didn't give details about what would happen if more people wanted planes than were proposed to be made. However, he said he wouldn't make more than 20. I'm sure details will be forthcoming. When, I couldn't say exactly, so we all need to be patient. Andy also did not say what planes would be made after the Typhoons and ME 110s. I'm sure details will eventually be forthcoming about them too. Sign up will be promoted through the Forum, the King and Country website and K & C dealer.

As mentioned previously, this is a very small factory of three people (father and two sons) and he doesn't want to sacrifice quality for speed. Apparently, the father had worked at a workshop that made warbirds for Andy previously so Andy and Gordon said let's give them a try. When they get the models back, they were stunned. They had never expected clear cockpits with the instrument panels.

In addition, they never expected the interest in these planes that has developed.

I'll try to answer any other questions about subjects that may have been discussed.

Thanks Brad thats all good ifo.Good to know about Bulge,FOB,WW1 and especially Arnhem.Shame about Montys tank but you can't have it all.Hopefully one of the ltd eds will be a WW2 model. You are right about WW1 sure sounds like its going to be big and well worth collecting.

Rob

Thanks Brad for the synopsis, Do I got this straight, The Storch is going to be the first "production" warbird and a secondary Connoissuer line of limited production is also planned running simultaniously?
so what are "production" numbers?
Ray

Ray,

For the Storch, I think the phrase Andy used, as coined by Steven Chong, was planned production of 500 but would not be "limited" to 500. Andy may have to explain this better.

For the Cons, it would be somewhere between 10 and 20.

I don't know how often the production Warbirds would come out but I think the Cons would be coming out at the pace they could, subject to quality over speed.

... For the Storch, I think the phrase Andy used, as coined by Steven Chong, was planned production of 500 but would not be "limited" to 500. Andy may have to explain this better ...
In the past, collectors were upset when K&C announced a new product to dealers with a specific production number, but later decided to make more when dealer orders exceeded the not yet produced production run. "Planned Production" means K&C will announce TO dealers that it will be producing the Storch with a specific "planned production" number like 500, subject to change. Please note this may not be the production number announced by K&C -- I am just using 500 as an example. IF dealer orders exceed the "planned production" number, then K&C will simply have more sets made to fill these dealer orders. If the "planned production" is 500 and K&C gets 1000 dealer orders, then K&C will make 1000 sets. Given this information, collectors will be forewarned that K&C will make more than the "planned production" number if there is sufficient demand.:)

It will be interesting to see if demand holds for the cons at nearly $1000 per plane. I can imagine a lot of enthusiasm upfront then a drop off given the space and expense involved in collecting these. I'm game for a couple.

Doug,

I would agree with you. When you have to put down a deposit, that's when you'll know how many people are really interested.

Yes it will be interesting,it will force some people who are a little unsure into making decisions about the direction of their collection(that has a nice ring to it!)myself included.Of course the warbirds look superb but it would take a sizemic shift to divert me from figures and vehicles. For instance i don't know if i'd want to put down a deposit on a plane whilst saving up to buy the paras all in one go.

Rob

FOR YOU - I pleaded for a new 88 - but, Andy said that it was very unlikely that he will do one in the next three years. Sorry - I tried.
