Strange (?) - the Samurai photo's that I tried to post for the benefit of other, or prospective, East of India collectors didn't work - maybe I'm using the wrong software - or my internet connection dropped out at an inconvenient moment.
Whatever, here's a few of Ken's Ancient Greeks and Persians;

H

Very nice Harry. It is also great to see you posting again in the briar patch over here.;):D I don't recall seeing the lass in the last photo on the EoI web site. Is she new?

Sorry Bill, I may have mislead you. She's not an East of India item. She's a Russian Lady called Olga. I thought she'd fit in quite well with the scene from Jason and the Argonauts I was attempting to depict. The Colchean's are probably mad at the Greeks cos the Golden Fleece is no longer - Golden.

Here's some snaps of the Oda Nobunaga Clan. Simply exquisite figures.
Hope they get through this time. I've swopped some of the weapons around, but that's just me. One of the things I particularly like about EoI is that Ken does supply alternative weapons with some sets, thus allowing some options for these wonderful figures.

H

Ah, that works well Harry. Not to divert the thread but I couldn't help noticing how nice she is. Is she the larger 54mm scale or more like EoI and where can you find her outside your Jason scene?

Harry,

Those are some of the prettiest figures I have ever seen and probably the best photography I have ever seen to boot.

An awesome display with great shots.

Very very very appealing.

Your photos, when I enlarged them to view, came up much bigger than usual.

What's the trick?

Michael

She's a rather tall 54mm Bill cos the base is a wee bit thicker than the EoI figures. I've no idea who the Russian manufacturer is. I found her on display in a Hong Kong shop described as Morgan La Fey from Arthurian legend. I just thought she'd fit in well with the Argonaut scenario I had in mind - and she does make for a good Medea.
Gets around though. Here she is again in a Fantasy vignette.

PS. Should be some nice Samurai photo's appearing soon if this internet connection is still working.

Hi Michael,

Its nothing supernatural - I use Photobucket and resize them to 860 pixels wide while keeping the aspect ratio. That fits well with my 15.4 screen company laptop. Could probably go for 900 pixels (or more) using the 17 screen Toshiba laptop I'm presently using, which the wife got fixed for me recently while I was on a 6-month assignment in several different countries.

Mike,
I forgot to mention, "Run Through The Jungle" is one of my all-time favourite CCR classics.
:) :) :)

No excuses offered whatsoever for revisiting this Display yet again. Simply can't stop playing around with these fantastic figures and am already looking forward to adding to that display unit - and the camp scene. No claims offered for historical (or language) accuracy either. It's just a theme that I like.
:):):)

Oda's Arquebusier Firing Line preparing to receive Takeda Cavalry.

First of all, we need to get our eye in, so we'll have some practice and mow down that row of defenceless houses.
IMG_1109.jpg

Hey, look who's here. It's Richard Chamberlain handing out the ammo. They had to drag him kicking and screaming from the Tea House to get him in the Front Line though.
IMG_1110a.jpg

Okay, them pesky houses is well deid, so now we'll try a few volley's this way instead.
IMG_1111.jpg

Cummon Anjin Saan, you'll have to be quicker than that once the Takeda Glamour Boys turn up.
IMG_1112.jpg

Now, we're ready for anything they can throw at us - horseshoes maybe.
IMG_1117.jpg

Whatdyaa mean you'ze wuz "Born Ready" Anjin Saan? Just you forget about the adventures with Zhang Ziyi last night and pass the ammo.
IMG_1113.jpg

Sheesh, I enjoyed that. :D

Harry, I really like the looks of these guys. Are these some of the latest batch you've just picked up?

Hoping to see the story continue, so keep at it as long as you are finally home for a little while.

Thanks Carlos.
Those cake stands in the photo's of the Ancient Greeks & Persians were originally obtained to serve as "Statue Plinths". I threw them into the mix mainly for a laugh and see how they looked, but also because I've presently only a limited amount of diorama bases to use for photo's and I wanted to add something different to the one I used.
Oh, and they do work great as plinths for statues; see the quick snap below.

Yeah Dave,
These are some of the goodies I picked up recently in Hong Kong, (2 weeks ago? Can't remember now). I might be wrong, but I think they're more recent sculpts than the EoI running Samurais I've put along with the 1st Legion examples on my "Asian Stuff" thread in the Diorama Section.
Glad you like them - cos they are much better when you see them up close and personal.
Got another week of happy snaps to go before I head back to Bangkok, but I've a few from Beijing up my sleeve as well for when I get bored.

Right, well you know we will be looking forward to seeing more of your excellent collection and photography skills in action. Thanks for taking the time to post all these excellent pics as of late. Loads of great stuff there that most of us don't get to see much.

Joe,
By the sound of things, you'll never get to sleep tonight with all that Java you're throwing down your neck.
:)
BTW, a portion of the goodies we picked up in Beijing on Monday was a few Britains ZW figures to replace the ones that were damaged beyond repair last year. Haven't unpacked them yet, but I particularly like the look of the Zulus that I see in their clear clamshell packaging. Been trying to figure out how to incorporate them into Samurai, or Ancient Greek dios, but I've come up with a big fat zero so far. Maybe I'll dream up something to do with the Space/Time continuum/conundrum - or maybe I'll just go to bed.....
About time I had an early night anyway.
:eek::eek::eek:

Harry

Just can't seem to stop playing with my new Samurai figurines;
Here's some snaps #1.
