I've been collecting for a few years. I started with the ultimate soldier/21st Century line and managed to collect almost their entire line of 1:32 aircraft (I have something like over 80 of them) Then I noticed the Corgi Line with their Hurricanes and thought how great they looked. I then set out on a mini crusade to gather those. I now have 29 of those. I collected all of them that I wanted (the entire set minus the working design ones because it is recommended that they are not displayed on their landing gear-probably the weight of the item would possibly damage the retractable gear) anyway...I'm wandering here...
I have a massive collection of 1:32 aircraft but what it lacks is that ultimate beautiful piece of a lifetime (the holy grail if you must) centerpiece.
That would have been the B-17. The B-17 is a gorgeous rugged looking aircraft that represents that time period. How pretty that would've looked sitting on a custom Build-a-Rama airstrip with perhaps a couple of Corgi P-51s in the background...
Alas I just missed the boat on this fantastic looking piece.
Let me talk a moment about Figarti. I own 39 of their 1:32 sets. I enjoy snapping close ups with a 10.0 Megapixel camera and sharing them with my friends at work. The figarti figures have some of the greatest, realistic detail and facial expressions of any 1:32 scale figures. They are definitely some of my favorites.
I really like the Figarti product. I've never actually seen one of their B-17s (Only Photos) but by judging by the quality of their other products it must really be truly a "Stun and Awe" item.
These planes were special order only and sometime before I attempted to buy one the Figarti company cancelled the line. I know I must've been close because the U.S. distributors thought they were still available until i attempted to buy one through them a few months ago.
This item was incredibly unique in that the Figarti company was the only one who offered a plane of this size in a large scale.
The price point was not for the faint hearted collector but the good stuff rarely is {sm4}
I can't be the only one who regrets seeing this product become unavailable. If you feel the same way that I do please let your voice be heard. If enough people express interest (not just to buy one but to express your opinion on the piece itself)...you never know...

Wingscale (from Norway...or one of the Scandinavian countries) is producing a very detailed B-25 and B-17 in 1/32 injection mold plastic and metal (for landing gears). It requires assembly. I heard though some parts (like cockpit and landing gears) are already pre-asssembled. Check out their Website. It is available for pre-order at Sprue Brothers (U.S. dealer). The Website features a resin prototype

I believe Figarti is going to do another B-17 later in the year.

Thanks for the info I'll have to check them out

Don't hold me to this, but I needed one for a scene we want to do for The Great Crusade, and Rick said probably later this year. I also told him my Fathers Brother Uncle Tony flew 30 Missions and I wanted to Commemorate him. So I made my best case!

Great Suggestion !!!

Yeah me too, believe it or not Steven Chong doen't have one either and you bet even Rick doesn't have one. They were all sold. That just has to change doesn't it?

I too was sad to see the B17 retired. I was hopeing to get this model in CHICAGO. I emailed Rick to see if they had any in stock, but they are are all sold out. Peter did say they would be making another one sometime later but not sure when. Maybe if enough collectors email Figarti they may make it sooner. I sure wanted one of these,I guess when you snooze you lose. Ron :(

Yeah I eMailed them a few months back and I even had TSSD asking them about it during the Texas show. At the time they didn't say anything about bringing it back in the future but I started this thread to hopefuly show them that there is still an interest in the item :smile2:

I`m lucky to have bought a B-17 - Memphis Belle. I liked it so much that I would love to buy another one in a different version. I`m pretty sure there is a good market out there for it! I`ll certainly buy another version if it comes up!

The recent tragedy in Chicago illustrates in graphic color what the German countryside used to look like, and the enormous sacrifices made by the crews

It is a real shame to lose a plane like this. They are irreplaceable. For those who didn't hear about this in the news, a B-17 had to make an emergency landing in an Oswego, Illinois cornfield just a few minutes after it took off from a suburban Chicago airport. One of the engines caught on fire and the pilot safely landed and all seven people on board were saved. The fire spread after the bird was on the ground and the plane was destroyed.

I vote yes....another Figarti B-17 would be most welcome....and....1:32 scale would be fine for a model this large IMO
