I've been collecting for a few years. I started with the ultimate soldier/21st Century line and managed to collect almost their entire line of 1:32 aircraft (I have something like over 80 of them) Then I noticed the Corgi Line with their Hurricanes and thought how great they looked. I then set out on a mini crusade to gather those. I now have 29 of those. I collected all of them that I wanted (the entire set minus the working design ones because it is recommended that they are not displayed on their landing gear-probably the weight of the item would possibly damage the retractable gear) anyway...I'm wandering here...
I have a massive collection of 1:32 aircraft but what it lacks is that ultimate beautiful piece of a lifetime (the holy grail if you must) centerpiece.
That would have been the B-17. The B-17 is a gorgeous rugged looking aircraft that represents that time period. How pretty that would've looked sitting on a custom Build-a-Rama airstrip with perhaps a couple of Corgi P-51s in the background...
Alas I just missed the boat on this fantastic looking piece.
Let me talk a moment about Figarti. I own 39 of their 1:32 sets. I enjoy snapping close ups with a 10.0 Megapixel camera and sharing them with my friends at work. The figarti figures have some of the greatest, realistic detail and facial expressions of any 1:32 scale figures. They are definitely some of my favorites.
I really like the Figarti product. I've never actually seen one of their B-17s (Only Photos) but by judging by the quality of their other products it must really be truly a "Stun and Awe" item.
These planes were special order only and sometime before I attempted to buy one the Figarti company cancelled the line. I know I must've been close because the U.S. distributors thought they were still available until i attempted to buy one through them a few months ago.
This item was incredibly unique in that the Figarti company was the only one who offered a plane of this size in a large scale.
The price point was not for the faint hearted collector but the good stuff rarely is {sm4}
I can't be the only one who regrets seeing this product become unavailable. If you feel the same way that I do please let your voice be heard. If enough people express interest (not just to buy one but to express your opinion on the piece itself)...you never know...
