Nice but not a Historical figure. Adding this comic book figure to Roman/Gaul/German whatever historical scene turns all that good work into Conan or Red Sonia or D&D. Why can't Conte do historical female figures?

Agreed; it looks like a Barbie doll, tiny waist and not so tiny...............well whatever, more comic book looking than anything else..........

Wow...that was quick...chop...chop...chop...chop...chop...it's getting so I expect it now...

Scott...you really gotta relax and have some fun...historically correct...I'm surprised you have not squashed the various Santa Claus figures on the market...

George...I'm beginning to wonder...do you got an alarm on the Conte thread at your house too...

okay...so what is historically wrong with her...her axe...her dagger...her belt...her boots...her hair...her cape...the rock...

it's a great figure...it's fun...why so quick to cut it down...you guys should quit wasting your time and collaborate your expertise on a non Barbie doll historic female line...and you certainly don't have to buy it...

I enjoy the fact that Conte provides figures like Kirk Douglas, Tony Curtis, Mel Gibson and Burt Lancaster Michael Caine an others an there's no doubt others do as well. It allows me if I chose to feature them in a scene I would have like to have seen in the movie they star in or feature them as historical figure in an historical event that took place. It's Conte time effort an money spent in providing his figures which have done very well even if they have'nt been historicaly attired........................Joe

Joe,
You make a great point, one not mentioned ever before on the forum and you are 100% right in your opinion. Like you said, these figures allow you and other collectors to creat scenes with the figures not in the actual movie, but a scene nevertheless that you enjoy creating in your mind and then creating in person via the figures.

That is a great concept, thanks for sharing that idea with the forum.

Hope to see you at a show soon Joe and my Dad told me to tell you best wishes and hopes you are well....................

Nice sculpt !

Thread raises the interesting point about series based on historical figures or on the movie that depicted those characters.

Conte is the brand most well known for creating Toy Soldier figures inspired by movies starting with the Warlord but also including Zulu and Zulu Dawn,
300, and coming series Scottish / Braveheart and Wyatt Earp / Tombstone.

I think having a series that can be identified with a movie is sometimes a good idea as there are some who may not be familiar with that part of history but know the movie. The history purists will want to look at Chard and Bromhead but movie fans may be happy to be looking at Stanley Baker and Michael Caine playing those characters.

Certainly having figures come out around the time of a movie on that subject is good marketing (ie Conte's Spartans (300) and Conte and K&C had figures relevant to Saving Private Ryan).

In the case of this figure some may think it does not fit in with a historical display whereas others may like it as an interesting talking point. Each to their own.

Regards
Brett

I usually want things to be more on the historical side but I would love someone to do the characters from Last of the Mohicans. Also who's to say she's not historical. Most of us wasn't around in her time period.^&grin:D

If you take his releases of his new Zulu War Series, his ACW Zouaves and his latest release of the Gordon Highlanders Brett you'll find the uniforms an weapons are spot on for the periods an historically correct as in many of his earlier releases over the years. I agree Brett tha't he's noted for his tie in with various movies but he's also well noted for what he's brought to the collector of the ACW WWII the Alamo an other series which have not featured any referance to movies or stars. It's one of the many reasons he's become so well known in the Toy Soldier World and I'm sure the reason you've made it a point to become one of his dealers because of what he offers to the collectors of Toy Soldiers an Military Minitures........The Lt

Well Mike, did you like it? :)^&confuse:)

There are a couple of good points here about accuracy. I agree, you have to look at a line and ask whether it intends to portray history, or if portrays historical fiction.

A good example of crossover between history and historical fiction is the way Boudicca was portrayed in a series on the History Channel. She looked more like a frontwoman for a chick metal band than a Celtic chieftain. But I chalked that up to the low standards THC has for accuracy in the productions it airs (like a shot in a piece on the Doolittle Raiders, depicting a famous incident where the Colonel rated the maintenance at an airfield just by writing "Lousy" across a form. They shot a hand holding a clipboard and writing "Lousy", with a Sharpie).

Prost!
Brad

I'm sure the painted prototype of the Barbarian Queen will stir some intrest and chatter. She's a Beauty.......The Lt.
