The Blue Max (1966) (1 Viewer)

Oh yeah! Little red Fokkers vs little green Spads. Great game with beautiful box art of Billy Bishop's Nieuport 17, if I remember correctly. -- Al

Yes...the Blue Max was (and is) much appreciated by both of us. I also saw the original movie at the theater with my older brothers and my mother. I recall chuckling at the awkward, love-scene moments between George Peppard & Ursula Andress (my Mom had a look of horror on her face while we boys all laughed). Now Brother Mike (only 2 years older) and I had been building Monogram WWI Airplanes since I was Five years old (I was 15 in 1966). But the movie that really propelled Mike & I to add to our collection of WWI planes was (and is) the 1962 film Lawrence of Arabia. We built them all! Love those planes. Mike even became a pilot.

Fast forward to the late 1990s when my son & I re-started collecting (both of us had been given, and kept, all of our toy soldiers from our respective childhoods). Since we both LOVE all periods of history, in all parts of the world, collecting miniatures is a natural adjunct of this interest. And so...enjoy!

Yes! I remember that game, though I didn't have it, my cousin did. I misremembered it as a Milton Bradley game. I thought the game pieces were very cool.

When I was older, in junior high, I got the "Carrier Strike!" game, and I painted the ships and airplanes. The carriers were the same model on both sides, but the planes were TBFs/TBMs and vague Kates. So I painted them appropriately.

Prost!

We played that game too. Unfortunately I was too young to get it & then a flood destroyed it.
I had a PC game in the early 80's called Blue Max. It was fun because you got to fly many WW1 planes. Accurate? Well, they said they tried...
Painting planes is a Hobby in our family. Glad you enjoy it too!

Prost!
