Ladies and Gents,

Looking at the figures coming out in the next few months, I honestly think that K&C have for the first time some serious competition. I would like to see how they respond.

I was going to buy the new 8th Army figures but have decided to buy some of the new Conte arrivals instead to go with my OSTN. I wonder how many other people have decided to forgo on K&C, for other companies recently.

My Afrika Korps collection will soon be complete, and another K&C collection awaits. I think for a change I'll go to the Romans and the new Barbarians. I have a number of the recent Romans already and so the addition of a few Baa Baa's will set that off a treat. Will any other people collect these figures as when they were announced no one seemed to be interested?

So in the near future, I have decided to buy the Baa Baa's and then I'm looking at the "hopefully" new DDAY Panther and the "series" that will add to this period. More UK DDAY hopefully and then looking with much interest at the new Eastern Front models nearer the end of the year.

This will allow me to then buy the new Honour Bound Panther(s) - already ordered and the NMA ( I preferred the term British Commando ) SS Mortar which is also pre-ordered. The OSTN ACW figures look like a must have as do the new Britains ACW and World War I.

At the March London Show I plan to look at the new Figarti figures, as the guys on here seem to be impressed, and the photos are good. Is there a British dealer yet?

Regards

Andy

There's a lot in your post so let's take it one at a time.

You asked about Figarti. They have a dealer in North Yorkshire called Maison Militaire. Their website is www.maisonmilitaire.com

Getting to the meat of your post, I only collect World War II so I'll start from there. I don't really see Conte as competition for K & C or if it is, it's always been there. It's 54 mm and that's really a different line of competiton. I won't be foregoing any of the new AK or EA releases for anything else. I wonder if you've seen the advance photos of the new EA releases. They're fantastic. The Conte stuff is probably nice but according to a few people who have received some, it's not up to the K & C level.

I think K & C will have competition from Honour Bound but I don't think I'll be foregoing K & C for Honour Bound. It will be complementary to K & C. Same with Figarti and possibly NMA. Although as far as innovations in how a product is made I only see HB and Figarti in that field. In that way Andy will have to respond.

These companies produce only a few things in comparison with what K & C makes so I don't see them taking a huge amount of dollars away from K & C. One company is new and one is a 54 company, not exactly the same area of competition.

Just my two cents.

Brad, where can the 8th Army pictures be seen?

The past 3 months are so there has been a lapse in K&C releases of what I collect from them, as I don,t collect the Egyptian and most of the LAH line.
So with the news of future releases from Conte and ONTC I branched out into their WW2 lines.
My opinion is that ONTC is a grade higher than Conte, mainly better paint jobs.
I like Figarti for their different coverage of periods with the Iraq line the best. I think they dropped the ball with their WW2 Marines, tho their Japanese are fine.
I also bought the Britains Stalingrad line, I had seen the protos at OTSN, however the finished product was one notch short of horrible and every time I look at them I want to kick myself for spending that amount of money on them.
Here,s my point, as Brad said all of the above lines are 54mm and are like apples and oranges in regard to K&C.
It will not effect my purchases of K&C, they, the 54mm lines, will have to wait if I run short of cash, K&C will get my dollars first.
As for competion from NMA and Honour Bound, again K&C will get my first dollar and ONLY if the above two companies are compatible with K&C will they get my second dollar.
I feel as tho I,ve been around the block as far as collecting and I feel I have a pretty fair idea what is good and K&C is the BEST on the market, period.

Cheers for the link. Those new EA sets look awesome.

My favourite has to be the Indian machine gun team. What an unusual but excellent choice of subject.

I think the EA and AK sets are already amongst the best he has done. Love the sun tan. The pz3 for example and 25pdr set are superb to name but two. The new sets also look terrific and the Indian division troops deserve the recognition for the fantastic job they did.

Hi,

I totally agree with you but I mustn't start buying the 8th Army. However, If K&C started doing the 14th Army that might change.

Andy

I assume you mean the Army that fought in the Pacific. However, the North Africa ranges is the best Andy has done. If you have the Afrika Korps, how can you not have the Eighth Army to oppose them?
