Just watching this old favorite again today, for the umpteenth time, and for the first time noticed an error I had never seen. After the first route march, when the Canadian and American race for the finish line, William Holden is seen relaxing in his quarters, soaking his sore feet. He is seated, reading a book, when Cliff Robertson knocks at the door. Holden gets up to answer and it is then that I noticed the book Holden is holding. It is one of the US Govt. green bound WW2 Official Histories, done in the 50's and 60's. That particular book is thus an official time traveler and could be the reason the Allies won WW2. :wink2: -- Al

One of my old favorites as well. Never noticed the book either. Maybe it was a history of the first yr of the war in pre-publication. :rolleyes2: I have several of those volumes, but haven't read them all the way through yet. Chris

Chris, those green-bound Army histories are great books, being very well written. My favorite volumes are the ones done on the Battle of the Bulge and Guadalcanal. Big tomes, but worth the read. -- Al

Al, my favorite is Cross Channel attack, don't think I have any of the Pacific theater except Operation Cartwheel. Also have the AAF in WWII vols. THose are pretty dry. Chris

Chris, those volumes on the USAAF in WW2, written by Craven, are renowned for being excellent source material but extremely tough reading. Tried a couple but couldn't get through them. I think Cross-Channel Attack was good. Also liked Breakout and Pursuit. -- Al
