Old Man River, The Great River, Big Muddy, the Father of Waters, the River, the Mississippi. The Mississippi River drains half a continent. The River basin is larger than Great Britain, Ireland France, Spain, Portugal, Germany, Aisha, Italy, Greece and Turkey combined. The Father of Waters again goes unvexed to the seas.

The 1845 painting by George Caleb Bingham upon which John’s masterful creation is based.

As per the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NY, NY, where the painting is housed, “the tranquil scene, with its luminous atmosphere, idealized the American Frontier for the benefit of an Eastern audience.”

Fantastic piece. I was waiting to see who would create the first scene with this fantastic little canoe. Nice!

Nice scenes you guys, thanks for sharing. Very relaxing to look at on a Sunday morning as i sip my coffee

I never understood how they were able to see a bear cub when on the original painting, we see very clearly (by zooming in a little) that it is a black fox... without the zoom, you think you see a cat but a bear???
Otherwise the piece is beautiful, original...and unique...
