Has anyone seen THe Forgotten Battle? A film depicting Dutch, German and British participants in Arnhem and Battle of the Scheldt. Supposedly the most popular movie on Netflix right now. A high budget film, the amount of equipment, vehicles, troops, etc is well done. Had a few problems with the technical aspects such as only 4 soldiers in a glider with one of the main characters. And the airborne towing operation with a mixture of heavy bombers and C-47s in the same formation, rather than by acft type and sqdns. Wanted to like this one but the usual over wrought personal drama got in the way IMO. The attack by the Canadian Black Watch btn over the causeway in the Scheldt was well done and mostly historical. THe commanders even discuss why they initially cannot use assault boats, as was the actual case. Three stars out of five. Chris

Yes watched it a couple of days ago. As you say the causeway action was realistic and well done. Overall some interesting scenes. Fairly gruesome in some, but par for the course these days. Did not find it noteworthy. Robin.

Saw it a few days ago. In top 10 on Netflix here.

It is mainly a Dutch production but mostly in English with Germans talking German. I thought for a budget of Euro 14m they did quite well. Main recognisable non Dutch "star" is the Captain of the plane shown in your image, Tom Felton (Malfoy from Harry Potter movies).

I thought it pretty good.

As a Canadian, I'm just glad that Canucks got a little bit of spotlight on the big screen. Besides the issues with the airborne forces, the assault at the end could have been done better. It was proceeded by a heavy artillery bombardment and the Canadians and British were never able to exploit the bridgehead on the German side of the causeway. The Germans only withdrew after British 4th Commando Brigade executed an amphibious landing on Walcheren Island.
