Hi all,

in the last few weeks, I was lucky enough to collect this little marching group of early WWI French Soldiers, before they were all out of stock.
I like the early War uniforms of the French, and the variety of marching poses.

I want to mention though, that the group would not be complete as shown, without the kind support of our fellow forum member Al, aka Lancer.
When hearing about my plans to display a small marching group of the French, he kindly supplied me with a FW065, marching French Soldier.
Not only did he supply me with one, since I could not find this figure at any dealer anymore, he gave it to me "free of charge" :smile2:
Thank you so much, Al, it really is appreciated :salute::

Here are some photos.
Hope you like them.

Happy Collecting!

Konrad,
avery nice group of early French WWI soldiers . I am anxiously waiting for some early Belgian WWI soldiers to come on the market . They had very interesting uniforms ( all different per unit) and I know some TS manufacturers are playing with the idea, who knows in 2014 maybe
guy:)

Hi Konrad. Sorry I'm late to the thread. You are very welcome. I have a feeling we lovers of the WW1 French Army are rather few in number. They are my favorite uniforms and my favorite subject and period. These are particularly well done figures. -- Al

Konrad...they are beautiful...you're a lucky guy...

Al...you're a Prince...very generous...

I too like the French. After reading so much about American and British wars and campaigns growing up I became interested in the French.I tracked down books on their colonial campaigns after the Franco- Prussian War and became very interested in their military, especially the Armee' D'Afrique and Armee' Coloniale'.A good overview of the French Army from 1871-1914 is the book by Douglas Porch called "March to the Marne".

Excellent book. Porch has done many good books involving the French military, including a large work on the French Foreign Legion. There are a small number of good books on the French Army in WW1 that are in English, perhaps a few dozen, but don't miss Alistair Horne's book on Verdun called 'The Price of Glory'. It is an outstanding book and is WW1 in a nutshell. -- Al

Hi Guys, hi Konrad,

It was good to meet up in Chicago recently and I’m sorry we did not get longer to talk. Also nice to see you picked up those “1914” Poilus for your collection. Like you I am a fan of the French Army and look forward to seeing more in 2014.

Even in these difficult times France continues to be a growing market for K&C (and I am sure other manufacturers) despite the worst efforts of the present government Français!!! So, let’s see what 2014 brings to the table…

Best wishes and…Vive La France!

More French in 2014 is good news. May I put in a request for cavalry and for the French 75mm artillery piece, please.^&grin^&cool -- Al
