The Hobbit... (1 Viewer)

Sahara and Fusilier,
Regarding figures somebody mentioned here, about 2 years ago, a series of 54mm LOTR being sold in the UK. I contacted the UK agent (can't remember details) with a view to supply but was told they would not sell to Australia. They were not Britains as far as I am aware and was a series being sold fortnightly. Some of the UK guys may know more. The figures looked good and priced OK.

The AOME series mentioned by Larso was very good but faded very quickly and their marketing was poor.

Regards
Brett

Hi All

The company that produced the Lord of the Rings figure collection was Eaglemoss Publications. It started of as only about a hundred figures in the collections but went on to have one hundered and eighty plus some specials. They also produced three chess sets. Three of the figures produced were the same as Britains as I recall, an orc, a Goblin and the cave troll, the cave troll was a special. The figures are easily available on Ebay. Here is a link to the collection.

"Too bad the Scouring of the Shire had to left out."

Someone mentioned this passage to me. I'm sure I read that one of the actors (Lee?) declined to be involved in promotion for the final film as his scenes - ie 'the scouring' had been cut out. If all true it means they were filmed and I'm surprised they haven't been released in some manner. Maybe they're on a special DVD somewhere?

I've watched most of the special features and it looks like there was some sword-fu with Eowyn at Helm's Deep, plus there is that teaser of Frodo seeing the prophesy of the Shire under the Ruffians when he's at Lothlorien. (How big a geek does that make me?){eek3}

I'd read the same thing about the scouring of the Shire having been deleted from the final cut. Also, that Lee was the only one on the movie set who had actually met & associated with Tolkien, which meant that he was even more miffed when the scouring scene had been cut out. And, why, in any version of LOTR, is Tom Bombadil left out? ^&confuse^&confuse

Actually can someone summarise 'The Scouring' for me? I seem to remember talk of Sauramon (Lee) and Grima reappearing to attack The Shire - how did it go?

Hi Brett

The collection ended a couple of years ago. If you click on the picture of a figure then click on a name or more at the right hand side of the figure you can access the whole collection.
