Hannibal had his Elephants, Hitler had his Panzers, my Crusaders have apparently recruited...the Bulldog.
I was working at my desk, my daughter's bulldog pups resting at my feet, when I realized that one of them was happily chewing away on something, something bright, colorful....familiar. Sure enough, as I looked down, I realized that 'Tank' (the dog) had indeed attacked my Saracens shelf in the bookcase and was happily chewing on a Saracen archer.
After a few expletives, I ensured the figure parts were indeed 'outside the dog'-and then chuckled. Luckily only one casualty resulted-pics below.

Please note, no animals were harmed in the making of this thread.

Sort of a 'Monty Python' thing going on:

I am so sorry for your loss. I am even more sorry that you can't get mad. Bulldog puppies are too cute to ever get into trouble!

LOL-let's just say a 'bulldog head mount' on my wall danced in my head for a moment, then I realized-it's a toy, I can replace it. Gave me a reason to also order a couple of the new Crusader/Saracen releases.

Needless to say, the figures now reside a bit higher in the bookcase.

Mike,

Sorry, I could not help but rib you a little on that one, I have first hand experience with what you are talking about. Our dog will not try and destroy any soldiers, she is actually very respectful of them and quite curios when I bring new ones home. As I open the boxes or packages she loses interest once she realizes that they (a) do not smell like bacon and (b) they do not squeak. The funny thing is, if she wanted to, she could eat just about anything she wanted, including small pieces of furniture since she is so strong. But she really is a sweetheart.

I like the justification for being able to buy some new Saracens. Have you seen MK065? That is one of my favorites of the new ones.

That pooch was obviously was a Crusader in a former life! Probably of English descent. :D Thanks for the levity.

Cheers
CFM

Very humorous story...and with a mug on a pug like that, well, it's a mug's life!
My space has been child-er dogproofed since my mutt got at all my paintbrushes and chewed off the wooden handles!

No worries Panzer Ace, I always enjoy a good ribbing ! I truly was shocked that a metal soldier would've been attractive to him. I grabbed MK066 (great figure), but haven't gotten 065 yet. The new Crusader archers are sweet as well.

...I'm sure that too 'passed'....

Well, I recall that under Islam, the penalty for taking a sword against a warrior is to chop off the offending arm. Being that a dog attacks with his mouth & not with his paws...I suspect the penalty will be to remove his lower jaw.

065 is a great example of how far the K&C horses have come. And yes, I could not agree more with you about the new archers. The entire line is tremendous.

BAD DOG NO BISCUIT!! What is the world coming to these days? Fortunately no pet destruction has occurred in Nancy's place. The cats would be ok but I am not sure how I would be. Just those pesky earthquakes.:eek:

Looks like Mugsy really chewed the crap out of your figures. Maybe a new type of toy rather than your soldiers?

I am shaken! Get rid of the dog! God wills it! ;)

Sorry for your loss, but he should be easy to replace!

Maybe you should contact K&C and ask Andy if you can get the left overs from the production and in future skip the Pedigree! :D

Sorry for your loss but you could just add some red paint and a Templar standing over him with an axe.

I also keep my dog out side but that was a Christmas tree incident

Dave

That sounds ruff...!!

My English Cocker Spaniel Scooby (as named by the kids) once chewed a K&C AWI Redcoat, luckily they are easily replaced. I'd be marching him down the Vets for an injection if it was one of my rarer pieces.

The whole bulldog image got me thinking about DD054, “The Beach Master Set”, I just love the bulldog in that set!

Interestingly enough our dog's name is KC, pretty close to K&C...but like I said earlier, her diet consists mostly of dog food and dog treats. Filet Mignon on special occasions but never toy soldiers!

Looking at those faces should be punishment enough...........

My thought exactly, he's now a casualty on the field. I couldn't help but think of the Monty Python bit with the Black Knight....

LOL-yeah the Saracen attacker (brown and white) has that traditional 'Olde English Bulldog' look. I tell my daughter that the white one (named Tinkerbell) is so ugly, she lovable-besides, so far she's leaving the troops alone:)

Bulldogs are wonderful, always makes me think of Winston Churchill, I have sworn for years I want to get one and name it Winston.

Sorry for the soldier casualty, but the story is priceless.
