I asked John Firth (Beating Retreat) to paint some soldiers from the Imperial Germany and I recently received four figures. John is in the process of painting several more. Unfortunately, the photos don't do John's work justice.

The first one is the Leibgendarmerie.

The bodyguard Gendarmerie (the Kaiser's) consisted of one officer and 24 men detached from the Prussian cuirassier regiment for duty in the Emperor's household. The soldiers were retained on the roles of the regiments and were usually exchanged yearly, the officer in command taking his orders from one of the Emperor's aides-de-camp. In 1889 a second platoon was raised as the Leibwache der Kaiserin und Konigin. In addition to posting dismounted guards within the palace, the Gendarmerie provided the mounted escorts which accompanied the Emperor's carriage. On these occasions it wore the same uniforms as the staff guards of the Garde-du-Corps.

I will try to post the others as time permits.

What a nice subject for this new thread. I wonder if a little more information on which casting was used etc. could be provided {sm4}
Remaining at full attention following this thread. Thank you very much for shareing!!!!

Wolfgang,

The casting is made by Hussar Figures, as are the other figures.

Brad

Nice choice for a collection, Brad! And ditto on Hussar, I have a couple of the Seven Years War Prussians in that catalog, they're very nicely done castings. This will be a great collection!

Prost!
Brad

Thank you all for the comments and the likes, but especially John for making these ^&cool

Next up is a Major of the Leib-Garde-Husaren Regiment. The figure was based on a painting of a Major from the Potsdam Garrison, raised in 1815.

John added a Daschund to the scene, a nice little twist.

Fantastic!!!! when you get sick of that one, I'm your guy! :)

The more I see John's stuff the more excited I get for the stuff he's doing for me!!!!

Thanks for the comments. I have two more figures to post but I have to go away on business for a week so I'm not sure I'll get a chance to do so before next weekend.

John's stuff is definitely great. He makes the figures come alive.

Very nice, Brad.
Congratulations to these fine, and unusual, additions to your collection.

Hi Brad,
Congratulations on your fine new additions :salute::. It seems John's works have really gained in popularity as of late and I can certainly see why. Congratulations to John as well, good to see his fine works getting the recognition they deserve. regards Gebhard

Next up is a Sergeant from Königs-Ulanenregiment (1. Hannoversches) Nr. 13.

I have received my package from John Firth aka Beating Retreat and they are superb, better than I could have imagined.

First off, is Kaiser Wilhelm. This was a Stadden or Mike Ferguson figure that Brad the Baron mentioned to me. A big thank you to Brad and John for painting him.

The Kaiser is shown in the Gardes du Corps uniform.
