Hi Everyone, pleased to say John is enjoying this, nothing makes one happier than giving people just what they want!
So without further delay..... 'drum roll please.....' ;)

Here is the first update on YOUR new Jacobite piece, as chosen by YOU! :D:D:D

The Drummer;

I am just about to add final sculpt images of the lowlander with flag to the previous SEPTEMBER thread, so please check back there too.

Now time to get those votes in, lets see if we can beat 29 votes this time!
As always your list suggestions welcome and will be passed on to John.

Happy Collecting!

Thanks John - The drummer is promising to be a bonnie figure, an outstanding addition to the line.

Excellent sculpts as always. cant wait to get my hands on the finished items.

A suggest for the collective, how would a double figure pack of British wounded appeal? One line and one grenadier. Kills two birds with one stone. Well that would be apt considering stones were the last resort of the few.

...whilst I didn't vote for the Drummer I can appreciate that he will be a very fine looking figure and another 'must have' purchase when ready...:smile2:

...and now we're being offered another chance to pick the new addition....and hopefully to receive many more votes than previous....especially considering all the 'views' of the thread...

...but what to choose this time ???

I know I was surprised by the voting. But I think this is a great pose. I was thinking a pose like all of the other drummers John has done. While they are cool, they are not in action poses.

This one is in action pose. Very cool.

I hope we get at least twice the number voting on this new poll.

Matthew

This time I voted (again) for British casualties,but would also like to see some British NCO's.The drummer is an interesting figure and will fit in well
with the larger scene.Keep them rolling out John!A great series!

Same here. Voted this round for the British casualties, with the thought of voting for the NCOs next time. Hopefully we'll see John doing both of these for us in the near future.

A future release suggestion would be for some Royal Eccossais in 'desperate fighting' poses, to pair off hand to hand against the mounted dragoons.

...my own immediate 'wants' are for a selection of Lowlander Combat poses.....and British Line Firing Kneeling (pair)....

...but then again, I wish for everything on the Poll list....;)

...keep the voting going....there must be a whole lot of Jacobite Rebellion collectors out there (it is a superb range)....grab the chance to help select the next figure....lets double the previous total ! :cool:

These polls are really great.
By now I am looking forward to getting the British Drummer and really like the preview of the start of sculpting.
At this poll I put in a vote for British Line Casualties.
What a great approach and way to interact with collectors of this most beautiful line.
Cheers!
Konrad

...we're halfway through the month...is it too early to call the British Line casualties as the possible / probable winner ? :confused:

...I'm still hoping for an avalanche of voting to help support this endeavour by John to allow us to pick the next figures...which will only be possible if we pull in more votes....it's not everyday that one gets the chance to influence the masters hand ! {bravo}}

OK, here is a sculpting update and research question from John;

'I've hit a snag, as the "Morrier painting" shows the dummer with a left to right diagonal strap.
I know drummers of this period had the "hangers/swords" suspended from a frog on the waist belt. So am not sure what the diagonal strap is for?
If anyone can help, I'd appreciate it, otherwise I will have to remove the strap.'

John, If you have the Stuart Reid book 'Like Hungry Wolves', look on page 92 - the image of the Morier painting of the Royal Artillery at Roermond. In the left bottom corner is a back view of a musician sitting on his drum. The strap you're speaking of looks to be attached a cylindrical case adorned with large tassels. - My guess would be that this is a fife case, which is carried by this left to right over the shoulder strap. - Ken

...first things first...that new Grenadier Drummer figure looks fantastic....

...secondly, after thumbing through to check the Morier painting on Page 92 (those are sharp eyes Dragoon ! :D)...I'm inclined to agree that it is 'something' relevant to the figure...

...what the something is I'm not sure...would drummers also play the fife ? ...why not...

...I've read online in other forums the possibility that it is a drum stick case ?

Sent this image along to John. It's a George Hogarth print ca. 1750.

- check out little fellow on the left w/ fife and case with strap.

...and this?

Evening one and all

Settling down after a late shift when I remembered I had a book on the shelf that I had has a teenager many moons ago. It may be considered old hat by todays standards but Liliane and Fred Funcken produced uniform illustration books way back and Wargames Foundry sold reprints back in the late eighties /early nineties. The text is in German which I can just about make out. There are several illustrations of the right time period of fifers and drummers with a tasselled case on a shoulder sash. This appears as stated in some of the earlier posts to be a case for the fife. Got to turn in for an early shift and don't think I cam face scanning the page and then attempting to resize and up load the illustration today.

Good night one and all

Glynn

In a very recent email conversation John J. included an image of an upcoming F&I War release (see Seek Peak thread). He also had this to say about the drummer's progress. - ''I'm in china for two days, so will probably be a little behind with the next update of the drummer, but I added the cross belt back in yesterday, and have started to sculpt the lacing details, so it should not be too long before the master is finished. The drummer figure has developed quite well, and I am very happy with the pose and how it has progressed.'' - Looks like many GOOD things coming our way. :)

...that's great news.....I wish we could reciprocate with an increase of the votes to show just how chuffed we are with getting new figures....

...as with the sneak peak F&I war figure, I wonder if there will be sneak releases of Jacobite figures that are being made along with the ones we now know of...???

...fingers crossed...:wink2:
