The good news! And how you can help get the figures you need....

John is getting back into sculpting additions for his Jacobite Rebellion range and has discovered his to do list is very long!
He has found the wish lists on here most helpful and in order to try and please most of the people most of the time, (surely an impossible task, but hey, hats off to John for trying!)
Together we've come up with this new thread, it hopes to include monthly updates and we've a photo to share below of a new Lowlander work in progress.

Here is the plan, we will start a Poll and John proposes to sculpt the poll winner each month! {bravo}}
(There is of course some small print, it cannot be a personality figure, although I am sure John has his own plans for these?, fingers crossed)

Get your votes in, Here is the September Poll;

Regarding the Poll, Please list your suggestions here, and I will post a new thread and Poll in October.

The August figure is chosen by John and already underway, check back here for updates!

New Lowlander Charging!

Great news. Glad to hear John's interest in Culloden is spiking again. And thanks Major H. for this forum idea. Looking forward to see how it plays out. - Choosing just one from the list was pretty tough, but a British Drummer to place behind the firing line of Barrel's 4th Rgmt. would be a great addition to the display - so that got my vote.

This is a great series and some of John's best sculpts. Certainly many good choices but I picked the Highlander in action pose.
The British drummer would be very welcome as well.
John had mentioned that this was one his most popular series so monthly additions should keep collectors happy.

Thanks for voting, don't forget this is just the first poll, you can vote again next time with the refreshed list!

WOOHOO ! .....great news and really outstanding that John is taking on board our wishes....it's really appreciated...:)

...as for additional suggestions....(even though all that is on the first Poll list is very much desired)...

...mirror the British Line figures with Grenadier versions / Royal Artillery...

...Bagot's Hussars / Irish Picquets (Regt.Lally) / Lowlander Colours / a new Piper...

As tempting as it was to vote Argyle Militia, I chose instead Lowlander Combat...(would it be considered pushy to request a 'pair' of them ? :wink2:)...

Thanks for the poll and the news from JJD.I am looking forward to some British casualties and a drummer and, although it is not in the poll,I would like to see some British NCO's.And so much more!

Oh no! I'm the only one for a bayonet drill guy!

That aside, won't the whole lot look just wonderful when the range has reached completion.

Unfortunately the 'Drummer' took my vote this month....but there's always next month, or the next, or the next....!

British 'line' Grenadiers would be welcome on the list.

...the 'Drummer' appears to be the favourite so far...

...but for the future, what about a figure entitled 'The Desperate Highlander'...based on this excerpt from Prebble's 'Culloden'...

'''' Those of the clan who did not break the line stood fifteen paces from it like enraged animals, unwilling to advance into the musketry or bayonets, too proud to retreat. They were shot down where they stood, and they slashed at the empty air with their swords. "They threw stones..." reported Cumberland to his father's first Minister, with a soldier's amused contempt for such amateur soldiering. And so they did, having tossed away their fire-arms in the charge.
They bent down, tugging stones free from the heather roots, and they threw them at the infantry until at last they fell back. ''''

...a sad desperate figure indeed...

To borrow a little from Larry David, It looks like the chances of John making a drummer for Barrel's 4th is looking ''pretty good, pretty pretty good''. ^&cool

OK, here we have some sculpt updates, and ANOTHER QUESTION for ALL!

- WHICH FLAG WOULD YOU LIKE THIS LOWLANDER TO BE CARRYING? -

Please post replies in this thread in the format below; and as a separate post so they are easy to SPOT!. thanks

FLAG for Lowlander =

My choice of FLAG for LOWLANDERS would be - Lord Ogilvy's regiment: banner is a blue field with a white saltire that does not reach the corners of the flag; in the top quadrant a white scroll with 'Nemo Me Impune Lacessit' in black and gold letters, above a thistle in natural colours.

Image of the historic flag mentioned above. Obviously it survived Culloden and was carried of the field, not suffering the fate of other Jacobite banners which were captured and later burned at Edinburgh.

FLAG for Lowlander = Lord Ogilvy's Regiment....

...I have to second the choice by Dragoon...especially after having seen the original earlier this year...the flag is removed when summer begins, to avoid the sun rays from causing any damage...(according to the lady who worked there)...I guess that means it disappears for a very short period of time based on our usual so-called 'summer'...:)

...the images above are from that same visit...

...I think the flag would look outstanding amongst the Lowlander figures...

For the next poll would you add a dragoon officer? Trumpet blower too. :)

Matthew

...as the month crawls steadily to a close, I thought it worthwhile to point out to the nice people at JJD ( = John !)....that the figures which have not yet been voted for are all still very much desired....

British Line Firing - a kneeling pair please !

British Line combat - there's plenty of 'in action' type's of poses that could still be selected...

Lowlander Officer - exhorting the troops with a stirring wave of his sword...

Lowlander casualty - one or two please...

Ecossois fleeing - most of the existing range are either 'attacking' or 'charging'....I assume we would also have 'fleeing' figures from other Regiments...for when the Dragoons got more involved...

Ecossois casualty - one or two.....I'm actually hoping for more of this type of figures from both sides...

Skirmishing Pair, on foot - a British NCO with spontoon V broadsword wielding Highlander / or a British Line figure with his hands locked onto the arm of a Highlander as he brings his dirk down towards the British Line figure...

Ecossois Officer - ...we've been blessed with the new release, but yes, another one in a combat pose would be great...

Eccossois Drummer - ...and a Eccossois Piper perchance ?

...there's so much that can be done !

OK, just the flag tom complete!
It been great to be allowed to follow this project and looking forward to the next one imminently!

Don't forget to keep voting on this months Poll, as it hasn't closed yet... although the results are beginning to be fairly clear!

We will post a new Poll in due course, thanks for all the suggestions, the next poll has been shortlisted by John, so don't shoot the messenger! ;)

...that Flag Bearer looks superb...can't wait to see it 'in-the-flesh'....and to find out which Flag is chosen....

...as for the next poll list.....well......there may be the odd good-natured grumble should any favourite options not be included.....but it's all done in the best possible taste ! ;)
