I received this book today, The Kaiser's Army In Color, Uniforms of the Imperial German Army as illustrated by Carl Becker 1890 - 1910.
A great book for the collector, figure painter of the period.
HB, 146 pages with plenty of full page prints and also sketches and postcards by the artist.
Some sample pics are shown here.

Hi, Konrad, congratulations on adding this one to your reference library! I picked it up several years ago, too, and it's been very useful for painting my Imperial Germans. I recommend it to any fans of the period.

Prost!

Hi Brad,
I thought you would have that book :)
You're the only one I know with an interest in that particular period.
Not many figures out there on the market for this era.

Think you will find that Tradition has the largest range from this period. Trooper

I agree, trooper, the Tradition Model Soldier figures are the only ones I know for this period.
They are very nice too.

Yes, sadly, there aren't too many toy soldier makers or kit makers who produce Imperial Germans today.

John Eden might have the Rose (Gammage) molds, though. I don't recall offhand if he does. I don't remember, either, if Imrie-Risley still produces any of the figures they had in the Hellenic line. There were marching infantry in parade dress, a dismount Uhlan, and a mounted Jaeger (Jaeger zu Pferd) circa 1912.

I get my figures from the second-hand market, off eBay, for example, or at shows.

Prost!

Hi Konrad

Great book bought it about 6 months ago, makes it tempting to do some Imperial German stuff in Superior Gloss but as been said already not many makers of figures. Could do with someone making more of these regiments.

Regards John

Yes, gentlement, I forgot completely about Tradition.

There's also Pickelhaube Miniatures, though I think he's on hiatus or out of business now, isn't he? I liked everything about his range, except for the shape of his Pickelhauben. They weren't quite correct, they were shaped more like the British pith helmet. That was enough to keep me from getting any of them.

Prost!

I think he is back in business , check his website

Haswell Miller made some interesting Imperial German illustration. Also if you have an interest in the cavalry regiments, take a look at the the old Almark books.
