the Kings German Legion (1 Viewer)

Just a great figure as well as other 2 KGL previously available!
Quality made KGL units are very rare unlike 95th Rifles (available from First Legion and in many kits for professional painting).
Really want to see a few more figures of KGL, perhaps line infantrymen, or a few more light ones, in particular acceptable to Waterloo.

Tremendous figure Iwan, congratulations, just stunning...……….best of luck with it, I'm sure you'll do fine.

Beautifully sculpted figure, and so realistic.

The trousers are particularly well done with the cuts and patch and all the dust and dirt from a long campaign.

I was recently reading accounts of the soldiers, riflemen in particular, and the accounts of the rag-tag uniforms they wore, and I think that your depiction are about the best on the market.

Well Done,

John

Hi John. Have you read "riflemen History of the 5th battalion 60th (royal american)rifles 1797 to 1818, by Robert griffiths. There is i think a new version out with artwork by Christa Hook but it is quite expensive. I was just wandering if this was the book you recently read. I am thinking of buying it.

Iwan,
no that wasn't the book, but I'll check in my resource library and see which one it was, but it wasn't long ago, so it still could be close by?

Ewan,

that didn't take long for the search engine (my brain) to find it when I checked the bookshelves ....

It was UNIFORMS OF THE PENINSULAR WARS 1807-1814 by Philip Haythornethwaite originally published by Blandford Press in 1978, but republished by Arms & Armour Press in 1995 in a larger format, which is what I have a copy of.

Very interesting 10 pages devoted to the uniforms of that period but specific to the local modifications done on both sides of the conflict, not the dress manuals of the day ....very interesting.

Thanks John. I have that book and very good it is. It has 100 different colour plates covering all the nationalities that took part in the war.
If I get the book about the 60th I will let you know what it's like.
