The Last Confederate: The Story of Robert Adams (2005) (formerly known as Strike the Tent) is being released on DVD here in Oz in early August.

I've never heard of it.

Has anyone seen it? If so, how does it compare to movies like Cold Mountain?

Never made the silver screen around here. Looked it up on Amazon for sale 24.99. Has a web page but it froze up on me. do not know I will try it again. Maybe Netflix.

I rented it with high hopes a few months ago and was pretty underwhelmed. Felt and looked like low budget stuff with amateur, wooden acting. Pretty cheesey overall...I was bummed.

Thanks for that Mister Dave. Might wait 'til it hits the discount bin. ;)

Agree completely with MD's synopsis, it is a pretty poor home movie financed by the family of Robert Adams and starring all of his descendants, somehow they raised enough cash to get the hundred and eight year old Micky Rooney to make a two minute guest appearance that didn't help the dire story one iota. Steer clear even when it gets into the bargain bin.

The only low financed civil war film worth a watch is The Colt. Look it up on Amazon, good story, reasonable acting from a bunch of unknowns, fairly accurate uniforms and equipment and the best death scene of a Johnny Reb that I've seen on film for some considerable time. Recommended from a Reb!

Reb.
