The Last Duel Directed by Ridley Scott trailer (1 Viewer)

I really liked Ridley Scott's "Kingdom of Heaven" director's cut.
I am looking forward to this latest work also.

I don’t know that I can get past the helmets to pay actual money for it. Will probably wait for it to appear on a streaming service I already pay for. This could have been something I would paid specifically to see. Probably not worth it now.

Starts in Oz on Thursday. However having seconds thoughts as looks like a great movie but clearly the helmets are going to ruin it for me:wink2:

Dam helmets, can’t anyone get it right these days…..and don’t start me about the swords {eek3}^&grin:wink2:

Saw this. Sure the helmets are stupid, and likely done so the actors could show more "emotion" while jousting. Definitely not needed, as the final duel is pretty well done and you didn't need to see anyone's face to feel the action. While it would have been excellent if they just wore accurate great helms, the final duel was still one of the better medieval fight scenes I've ever watched in a movie, and it showcased the brutality of medieval combat pretty well I think. While the previous battle scenes in the movie are standard Hollywood where swords seem to slice through mail like butter, in the final duel armor behaves like it's supposed to. Pretty good overall, and well acted. I give it a B+.

Realize if you see this it is not a war movie. It has some good battle scenes, but it's more a story of a falling out of friendship culminating in a rape told from three perspectives of the principles involved.

Saw this in the cinema which is first one for several months.

Hunter is right in that it is not a war movie. More like a medieval crime / trial story told from three different views. Even how Damon and Driver recall what happened at first battle at Limoges is different.

Clearly Damon's helmet explains his facial scar so you would think he would opt for the full cover variety. However obviously done for dramatic effect.

I think three battles depicted (Limoges, Normandy and Scotland) but unfortunately only minor parts of them. Agree with Hunter the duel was very well done.

The castles and settings well done.

Not a good time to be a female.

Saw it and really liked it! Interesting change showing the events from three perspectives but not repetitive to my eye. Intriguing slants are to be found. Yes, battle scenes are brief but well done. I didn't know about that Scottish expedition.
The duel itself is very well done - I had no idea how it was going to end. I found it very exciting in fact.
Interesting to read some of the history later. It seems 'awful' Alan and Marguerite's maid got tortured at the trial to make sure they were giving truthful evidence! I wondered why no one explored how Jacques knew that Marguerite was home alone that day??? Though it seems in reality she had a least one maidservant on hand (who as I said, got tortured).
A fascinating film - highly recommended!

Trigger alert - dodgy helmets only worn briefly.
