The London Show pictures got me to thinking......... (1 Viewer)

Marx Playsets were some my greatest and most cherished Christmas presents. I lived in a small town in SE Kentucky - so I didn't even know what Marx was coming out with until we got the annual Sears Wishbook in the mail.. Some of my favorites presents (including some non-Marx, in no particular order) were:

1. Marx Blue and Gray
2. Marx Fort Apache
3. Marx Alamo (1960s version)
4. GI Joe and jeep
5. Deluxe Reading Battlewagon
6. Aurora Thunderjet 500 HO Slot cars ("with the fabulous pancake motors")

We didn't get a lot of toys and extra stuff throughout the years - but my mom and dad always made sure we had a nice Christmas... To this day, my mom says she was never worried about getting me and my brother something we would like cause, all she had to do was get "one of them soldier sets."

Hi Al,

I have the second release of Stoney - His legs have pins in the knees so you can make him sit. I don't have any of his gear anymore, but a few guys I know have a lot of 1/6th scale figures. They are very nice collections to see. Most of my older stuff hit the good will stores as my family moved every year or two and my parents did not want to pack everything up. I thought I would be safe and had my cuson hold onto my Marx WW2 sets for me. Eneded up going into one of their yard sales. All gone. Oh well, I'm just glad I have some of the stuff still.
