I purchased two del Prado figures at the East Coast show and I am thrilled that they marry up with my K&C sets perfectly. I got a RHA figure and put it with the King and Country RHA set and aside from the base you cannot tell the figures apart. the smae goes for a WWI figure I purchased.

I saw some new ACW Del Prado figures on another thread (think it was yesterday) and yeah, they looked pretty good - and relatively cheap as well.

Cheers

I've started buying a few Del Prado on ebay , the later ones are the same quality as K&C and there are soldiers from armies that would never make a range of WWII K&C like romanians, kuban cossacks etc and a few other decent ones like us army medic , british paratrooper etc they even have a german guy on horseback!

Hugh,

What number is the German guy on Horseback? I would like to see how he looks.

Jim,

It's number 2 of the latest series - Cavalry through the Ages.

Hi Simon

do they have any other WW11 soldiers on horseback in that range, I've looked through some of the listings and have only come across a WW1 british soldier on horseback

be nice to get some other WW11 ones, the secondary market on K&C mounted germans is pretty steep

Not at the moment. I think they're up to figure number 6 here in the UK, but the first section of this series is covering all eras of cavalry. Not seen a future release list I'm afraid.

Simon

Thanks Hugh. The picture is great. I'll look for this at the next show.

Jim

Thanks for showing the picture, I personally couldn't resist and went to ebay UK and bought one now, with postage it totalled around $20.00.
Can't wait to see how it fits with the K&C German Cav. set.

Size wise it will be pretty darn close. But then it should be shouldn't it?

Just recieved the German cavalry figure, not even close to K&C,
at best a small 1/32. No way you could use them together.

my little pony:D

I just got another del prado german horse with german trooper , different colour horse but smaller again , will post some photo's later comparing the two.

Still if you don't have any of the K&C german cavalry they are better than nothing, but can understand if you have the K&C german cavalry then they definitely wouldn't go together,

WWII cavalry figures don't come up often on secondary market and when they do they fetch a couple of hundred each...poor man's K&C cavalry, ponies instead of big stallions :D:D:D:D:D

here a couple of photos with the two delprado cavalry figures and a K&C american guy. One of the delprado figures is noticeably smaller than the other.

will do a better angle once i get a bit more practice

I couldn't resist myself and got 2 from e-bay. :D They may not be K&C size, but they look great with some 1/32 Britain sets I have.

It's true that the Britains are smaller being closer to 1/32 scale but their riders look more in proportion to their horses. Whereas the K & C guy with the cap looks to big for his horse. Of course he may be a big guy on a small horse :)

The same is true for their Vikings (nearly perfect match to Conte's Warlord range) and their arabs (nearly perfect match to K&C's Saracens). I guess they are designed to mingle with other ranges, that seems to be del Prado's estrategy and it's a good one if you ask me. It's much easier selling their figures that way.

I think some of the Del Prado series are sculpted by K&C (the firemen, napoleonics wwII and the medievals) so apart from the weight (a little lighter than true K&C) and the painting (sloppy in some piece) you can't tell the difference. The Firemen are truly outstanding!

DelPrado's "History of Cavalry" series has some real gems, too. They have some Imperial German figures, a Prussian cuirassier officer from the Seven Years War (Battle of Leuthen), Austrian (Hungarian) hussar from the Esterhazy regiment, all really well-sculpted and nicely painted. Those are closer to 54mm than some of the other figures.

I like their samurai series, too.

As we've said before, they're well worth the purchase. You can display them as they are, and some can be found at very reasonable prices, so you don't feel bad kitbashing them.

Prost!

Is there any place in the us that has the fireman series? I would not like to have to order overseas. There is a German WWII figure that I really would like to have.

Hi

I may be wrong but wasn't the first series of Del Prado actually made by K&C?
I bought the first 50 but then there was distribution problems so I never got to complete them. I was very happy with quite a few of the figures and some where alright but not quite up to standard.:(
