Here are some pics of my Mosquito....Another fantastic aircraft by Figarti......Please forgive me again ...I don't know why ENTER is not working on the forum so I cant skip lines or space the pics

TERRIBLE.........There was additional commentary here concerning some good and bad of particular products, which could be of value to the collector / modeler and it was removed......This forum is starting to become a Police State......TERRIBLE........Watch this will probably be removed

Alex...

Maybe it was the hacker!!!!LOL anyway not sure but I reckon one of the posts was mine and was about the poor weathering IMO on the underside of the aircraft and some of the wing top weathering. Not sure it was pulled intentionally as this is a valid critique as an aircraft that costs as much as it does should not have these rigid lines following the seams as a reproduction of weathering on an aircraft.

As I said if this is how manufacturers and dealers who influence production see weathering as the way it should be they should really for the benefit of the hobby look at some real aircraft and some of the many people who can do it properly. This would be panned heavily if it was shown at a model society or a model competition so, in the constructive critique essential for dialogue on a toy soldier forum this should be highlighted. It really is very poor painting!!

sorry for my ignorance but as I remember the mosquito is made primarily from ply wood including the wings but how come this model shows bare metal chipping on the wings ?

easy : primer then metallic paint on edge then wait for it to dry then paint over it with blue paint then chip that paint off

Are you telling me that's how they paint the real mosquito at the factory or you meant that's how Figarti painted/weathering this one ?

Maybe the top of wing skin was metal covering the wooden structure ^&confuse

I also was disappointed with the painting/weathering??? on this model:(....Why not just do it like the Ostfront BF110...a very clean good looking model^&confuse^&confuse....That weathering looks like scratches....could have be done much better IMO.

The entire skin of the wing was plywood covered in a doped cotton fabric. Only the ailerons had a metal skin. But note that the dope was silver. So any wear on the leading edge of the wing would be through paint exposing the silver dope, then fabric then the bare wood.

Agree Mitch weathering on the underside does not look great but overall plane look good , also who else will make one ?

Neil...

I agree the mossie is nice and have said so since it was released. fortunate enough to have been bought one as a stocking filler and glad to have it. Never been keen from first pics of the version we are discussing for the way it was weathered. not sure that I give any latitude to who else will make one as for me that kind of excuses poor quality and should not mean posts mentioning it should be removed if this is the case. Possibly no other manufacturer will make one in the mediums they use we know K&C can't do them CS don't make aircraft and TG are going wooden. Still should have been better even decent would have been sufficient mate.

Here is an artist painting of a Mossie which shows what the wear may look like. The artist is a Canadian, Lance Russwurm who specializes in aircraft art.

Splendid looking Mozzie, thanks for posting Alex. Am really on the fence about this, I really want one but its just finding the cash!

Mitch, The underside of this Mosquito is not what I object to.....I can live with the underside as it is...It is the visible top-side of the plane which I am not fond of at all...I have tried to use some grey-colored chalks to hide some of the more overly pronounced "scratch-like" markings on this plane....IMO it's a poor paint job, on an otherwise good model.

I think when weathering a plane it very hard to please everyone but I like it that it not factory fresh but been out and seen some action but that just me :smile2:

Frank...

So far I don't know anyone else who has bought the Jericho version so, until next week I won't know how pronounced these weathering marks are on that version. They are plainly clear on the pics posted but from the pics these don't seem as pronounced as the airbrushed black lines all over the place.

I agree that with such a superb aircraft they could have done the less is more approach like you mentioned with the 110 or for me, the Owl which was also superb but, they sadly have not.

I agree with Mitch regarding the big black lines on the underside of this plane. Otherwise it's a nice model.
