Just got this mat, hot off the press last week. It is 63" X 42." These Build-a-Rama mats are simply great! They are modular and easy to store ( you could simply roll them). Being modular you could tailor-fit your battlefield creating various scenarios.

Attached is a hastily made diorama. Please pardon the picture quality and the "rough edges." This is for theme positioning only.

Hey Mark, hurry-up those backdrops!

Superb N-P! Great layouts. The mat really enhances the look of the scenes. Not too shabby on the photography as well :).

Cheers

N-P stunning lay-outs and placements-that's what you would call "one hell of a mat"

I got fed up waiting for a UK distributor for Build-a Rama's excellent dio pieces even after asking umpteen times but fortunately John Gittens (JG Miniatures) came up with some 24X 12 similar long grass mats that he had at the London show-I bought 4 and am about to order another batch but I just might ask him to do a special- as you have.

Love your "rough" set-up as well :D

That is freakin awesome. I don't collect WWII but I would own that set up !!!! Thanks for sharing it with us.

Excellent and imaginative layout. What did you do to get the height on the banks of the stream?

N-P:

Very nice indeed. Very well planned and layout. Good camera angles too.

That's a great set up.

Mikey likey!

Mark does great mats and you did a really nice set up NP!

Kudos to you......really cool!:cool::cool::cool:

Really enjoyed the pictures. What a great set-up. Especially liked your repaints and mix of different manufacturers. -- lancer

I love the mat! It is very impressive! I hope you don't mind me asking but could you give me a range of the cost you paid? Did you build the bridge yourself or is that a K&C set?

noli-poli,
I really like the photo of the raft in the river taken through the trees...very realistic looking. How was the river done...part of the mat?

Troops:

Thanks for your kind comments, despite the rough edges in hastily setting this up in my excitement. For those of us who are not handy in crafting dios, pre-built materials like these mat comes in very handy.

To answer some of your questions:

1. The ruined houses are from the Conte Normandy Village set. The Conte
Church and Priory will work as well. I'll take some photo shoots next week
2. Mat size is 62" X 42"
3. River embankment: This is where Mark Vuncannon's creativity comes in play...notice how grass is shorter in some areas and taller towards the river embankment. As you press it down, it creates that natural "raised effect."
4. The Marder and SDK 222 repaints were done by Alex Dakar
5. The Storch is KC Warbird
6. The Bridge is KC SP12 "German Pontoon Bridge"
7. The tree cluster is Build-a-Rama (BaR) "Forest Strong Point"
8. Other Flora... 2 sets of BaR "Bocage Set"
9. The figures are mostly KC. Foodline and Cook is Honor Bound, Marder & SDKFZ222 re-paints are CS
10. The price: mat- $400 (depends on your specs. Mine called for a 14" wide river and a village dirt road). The Bocage Set is $69/set (comes with 1 corner and 2 straights); The Forest Strongpoint $350 (Westcoaster show price).

The Figarti Village Bridge instead of the Pontoon would have been great were it not for the thick ramps (besides, it did not have the connecting middle part)

I would recommend a 75" X 36" backdrop for the mat thissize so as not to see the rough edges as you take your pictures. Looking in anticipation of Ken and Mark's up and coming backdrop creations.

Yes, it is part of the mat. The river from what I understand from Mark was it is made from Liquid Nail...the type you can get at Home Depot.
