The" Mounties" are the first non military Queen's Life Guard (1 Viewer)

The NorthWest Mounted Police performed the same duties at Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee in 1897 ( no video) :)

They were part of the Jubilee Parade, as were lots of Empire military and police units but they weren't Queen's Life Guard. The Queen's Life Guard is the responsibility of the Household Cavalry and although other units do "stag on" from time to time (always under the direction of HCR) this is the first time for a police unit.
By the way there is film of RCMP and NWMP on youtube and British Pathe

Note that at least one of the Mounties is a lady. I also saw a recent video of the Kings Troop RHA where several of the gunners were of the femaled persusaion. Any women in the Horse Guards ?

There is at least one female member in the band, don't know which regiment as they were in State Dress when I saw her. Trooper

The RCMP has drums, bugles and pipes in Regina for the nightly retreat ceremony - not sure why they would not bring a bugler to London.
