I've been waiting a long time for these Folgore, and they look very good indeed.

I agree about the blue tunic insignia being an important part of the Folgore identity. I'm glad to hear that some of the figures have this, and it would be great to have a close up of those that do in order to take look.

These little details are important, much like the absent swooping eagle on the recent Fallschirmjager helmets.

Maybe it is a drive to keep costs down?

Nevertheless, I will certainly be collecting these Folgore!

I completely agree with you,

we've waited so long for this moment but it has been worth it: Folgore's figures are better than I could have anticipated.

Cheers

Enrico :salute::

I completely agree with the astute observation from bridport. It is most unfortunate to observe the deterioration of painting quality from the new badges of HG division and Folgore troops. I have longed for these figures for many years, and they didn't turn out right.

I only bought the officer and declined to buy the rest. But you can see the lack of decent paint job... The figures produced in 2010 - 2015 were better. Now it seems like it's returning to 2002 quality!

Notice the flat painting (without lining) on the shirt and boots of the new HJ officer.

Well, we can't blame Andy for this sloppiness. It's the entire production team in K&C. I don't think its due to cutting the cost, the other same price releases (e.g. the LAH brown shirts) are just as good as before.

I do hope K&C will recall the current badge of HG and Folgore figures for repainting.

Well Mr.'O',
You won't be surprised to know that I don't happen to agree with you... or your critique of some of our latest figures...Recent releases such as the IDF...US Marines... and now Folgore and Ramcke Brigade have taken and used the same naturalistic painting techniques that obviously you don't like.

Well a lot of other collectors appear, going from sales and feedback, seem to like this particular approach as I do myself. So it's certainly not 'sloppiness' on my or our K&C's team part...

And we definitely won't be recalling and repainting any of these figures as you no doubt wish.

So, if there's one thing among many that I have learned in this hobby of ours it is this...
You are never going to please all of the people ...all of the time ...with all of the products you produce!

Thanks for your thoughts,
Andy.

How many pictures have you got with those that do?

Some facts :
1.Only one factory produced the Fallshirmjäger helmet ( Eisenhüttenwerke Thale)
2.Early war : 2 different decals were put on the FJ's helmets
3.MID TO LATE WAR production:FJ helmets DID NOT CARRY ANY DECALS( followed the same logic as the other combat helmets in the German army )
I just wanted to put this straight
guy:)

Hi Guy,
As one of the very finest modellers and Diorama builders on this Forum (or any other come to that) I always appreciate your input and knowledge.

Like you I also know that the Luftwaffe eagle appeared on some FJ helmets but by no means all...and by 1942 onwards were a real rarity...

Our new Ramcke Brigade features soldiers come from the 1942/43 period so it's a more than fair assumption that the vast majority of those guys did not have crisp new Luftwaffe eagle decals on their 'tin pots'...And that's what we chose to portray.

Many thanks and best wishes,
Andy.

Thank you Andy.
You know I always try to make my dioramas as correct as possible, with respect for the historical facts .
Before I put anything together in a diorama, I do a lot of research and go in as deep as possible sometimes up to the regimental level;
I have hundreds of books and thousands of pictures about all aspects of WW2 and more in particular "The European theatre"
So without boasting I may say that I know something about WW2.
Always at your service
Guy:)

Two books worth reading about the German Fallschirmjägers ( do not know if they exist in English)

Thank you. Yes, I am aware that not all helmets had the decals and I was not suggesting otherwise.

Toy soldiers often accentuate the identity and characteristics of renowned units. It is a mixture of realism and artistic license.

My own personal preference is that any Fallschirmjager in my collection should broadcast the fact that they are Fallschirmjager, and thus I prefer to have the decals.

It has not stopped me buying them ...!

Hello gents, I am a newcomer to the site, and what a great one it is- with some great information, and great collector cameraderie amongst gentlemen!

I have collected K & C for about 10 years, primarily desert WW2 sets, and these releases of Folgore, and last months of Ramcke I have been waiting for for years (my all time favourite sets are AK 11 and AK 13) ! I will, over time be buying all of these new figures as they are representative, with great poses and I am VERY pleased to see that Andy has chosen to have them released.

My main collecting interest though is actually militaria and I am fortunate to own a few FJ helmets (and if i ever have any money left over I buy toy soldiers), and the bible on German tropical para uniforms is John Hodgin's "German Paratroops in North Africa", but the books you cite Guy are excellent too.
Ramcke helmets would indeed have had the eagle decal on the left side- BUT it was very often obscured by the tan/yellow camo overpaint , so it is true to say it would have been there- just underneath the tan camo paint, so you are both right. The men of the Ramcke brigade had their helmets issued to them before the order to remove decals was in place, and in any event there are many mid and later war FJ helmets in collections that do have factory applied decals so the "no decal" rule wasn't always in practice really followed.
An interesting link below, and on this site some fine uniforms , also useful to check accuracy and "rivet count" any uniform details...

Hi Bridport,
Many thanks for your input and fully understand your own viewpoint...

For me also 'Toy Soldiers' have always been a unique blend of military and historical realism with a degree of artistic license (or if you prefer 'interpretation') ...and, just occasionally, a dash of poetic license into the mix for good measure.

Best wishes and happy collecting!
Andy.

If memory serves me correctly. Many here a year ago complained about the uniforms on figures having (lining) or painted in / darkened seams.
This current figure in discussion does not have the painted in seams, or (Lining) Now we have comments about wanting them back again ! Guess majority over ruled here !

please no more black lines
Figures without lines but with hightlights and shadows = much better

Thankyou Guy,
As you already know I fully agree with you...At this point in time I see no need to substitute black lines for our newer more 'naturalistic' highlights and shadows as you have seen in our 'Searching For Pvt. Ryan' figures, U.S.M.C, Israelis and upcoming Arab Forces, Folgore and Ramcke Brigade...
Best wishes, Andy.

As I said before the figures are very nice: sculpt, painting, poses, weapons....But in the team no officers? No no-commisioned officers? Only some with the collar insignias? Why? As I said they look like anonymous soldiers.Italians soldiers in any corps had ranks, insignias....

...hopefully there will be more to come, and that the initial 5 is just the beginning? It seems there will be another 4 Ramcke brigade para's soon to be released...

I think this must be the best approach, the German para's never had tan coloured chin straps either , but on these figures this "enhancement" actually looks very effective, and gives them more of a tropical appearance.
