Hi Martin,

Educate me here, what are "The New Standards"?

John from Texas

John, the "Standard" is a square shaped flag carried by heavy cavalry (light cavalry carry a guidon). It is the equivalent of a "colour" for the infantry and carries all of the regiment's battle honours. The "Royal Standard" bears Her Majesty's coat of arms whereas the "Squadron Standard" shows the "union Wreath" (rose=England, thistle=Scotland and shamrock=Ireland). They are a cosecrated gift from the Monarch and the symbolic heart of the regiment.
