How different is this vehicle from the U.S. version? I was thinking of repainting and Americanizing. Michael ( I know, there is probably an U.S. version in the pipeline, but I did not want to wait.)

Unless I am mistaken.......removing the Tank Commander, Turret and unit markings on the fenders should do the trick, adding the white stars on the vehicle and maybe some U.S. armored division markings for good measure.

I thought another member had mentioned the U.S. used a different version..Michael

Very different. The M3A3 was only used in combat by the British forces, the Free French and the Chinese. The US did not. The side view of the M3A3 is flat while the M5 has a hump on the sides at the rear.

I have an American Stewart from my Dad's collection. It is really nice. It is interesting to look at how small some of the earlier armor was. Must have been cramped in there. Mike

Yep, Looks like some pretty solid info on the 2 versions !

There is a whole progression of development from M3 to M3A1 to M3A2 to M3A3 to M5 to M5A1. MG went from 5 in the M3 down to 3 MG in the M3A3. The addition of an upgraded radio caused the turret to be extended to the rear of the M3A3. The M3A3 had a large storage compartment on the rear of the tank hull (M5 did not). The K&C model has all of the M3A3 features on the British version. It looks like they did a good job on this one.

Great information Terry. I thought I would demonstrate a progression of development on my Stewart's. MikeDSC01136 (1).JPGDSC01135 (1).JPG

well Terry has replied but I would steer clear of trying to make it anything other than what it is. Hopefully, K&C will have taken this on board and not just stick markings on and say its US!!

Nice release though I do still like the ''black sheep'' version

There are obvious major differences as pointed out by Phantom Warrior, definitely making it a non conversion for U.S. use. I never knew this info about the Stuart until yesterday which makes this thread a good learning point on
this vehicle. Good stuff to know for an armor enthusiast :wink2:

Look a job well done :salute::

I really like the new Stuart.
The commander looks very British and it even has some stowage! Nothing like the old version but those were the good old days!^&grin

I agree that I miss all the extra stowage of past vehicles. My intent is to add extra stowage as well as more mud and dust to the Stuart, when I receive it..Michael

Before I start, I am a fan of both First Legion and K&C, this is not a one is better than the other post.

I like the FL model of having the vehicle with loose stowage that can be added. I like stowage, but prefer to have the options to lay it on so it can be removed, or gluing it on myself.

I do like manufacturing weathering and some manufacturer stowage, but not too much so that it is more a canvas for personal modifications.
