If you liked Blackhawk Down and 13 Hours in Benghazi you will probably like The Outpost now showing in Oz cinemas. Saw it last night. I believe it has been available for online viewing somewhere but dont know where.
Based on story of a major Taliban attack on a remote outpost in Afghanistan which was located in a ridiculously bad location to win hearts and minds. Resulted in two Medal of Honors (first time to 2 living recipients in the one action in 50 years) and most decorated US unit in Afghanistan. Resulted in review of positioning of outposts in unsuitable locations.
Orlando Bloom most recognisable star. Main role is Scott Eastwood son of Clint but also with Milo Gibson son of Mel. When Milo is wearing his helmet it was like watching Mel in We Were Soldiers.
Good action and one of those movies that shows the real guys and actors along with medals at the end.

Read Romesha's book Red Platoon and would like to see the movie. My son also served several months in an Afghanistan outpost. His unit was sniped at almost every day and survived an IED attack. Thanks for posting. Chris

The Outpost book by Jake Tapper is excellent. Red Platoon is good too. Junger has a book, Restrepo? Also good. National Geographic made a movie of it. They'd show they them getting sniped and the outpost would unleash major firepower. You're talking a mound of brass casings. Those sniped shots must be over 500 yards away.
