I received John’s new P-51D model (USAF-01) the other day and have posted some pics below of my little setup. I’ve got it displayed with some Thomas Gunn figures (which are too large scale-wise) until the JJD ground crew figures are released next year. Still, I can’t help thinking this isn’t one of John’s best aircraft models as it lacks some of the finer details and crisp tooling his more recent models are known for...

I’ll be curious to know what everyone else thinks 😃

Hey Tman,

I'm surprised more have not commented. I think your P-51D looks fantastic. Your scene with the TGM figures looks equally impressive. I've been looking at this aircraft for some time admiring the overall piece. I am curious; however, in regard to the scale. The TGM figures seem to work nicely. Not being familiar with JJ, are their figures much smaller?

In any case, it looks pretty cool to me.

Got my Grim Reaper yesterday. I am satisfied with it. Scale wise. it is at par with King & Country's 1/30 scale P51B Mustang "Ding Hao"

I must admit that the pilot and ground crew figures are relatively smaller (got the Spitfire RAF figures and some Corsair ground crews of JJ) compared with the 1/30 scale figures by KC and TG.

I think this plane looks really nice. The bear metal look and weathering are especially well done. My only issue is while it looks looks great it’s not an aircraft from a classic or iconic pilot/group. I’m not complaining because I know John tends to do things that are just a little different or less well known which is great for the hobby. I still may pick this up because it’s seems really well done, but I would probably be ordering it right now if it were a more well known plane.

I really like the face on the pilot, it captures both fear and determination.

Thanks for bumping this thread back up, everyone! Glad the general consensus is that people like the model as well... It will look really great once John releases all his ground crew and pilot figures for it 😎
