Just watched the first series. Yep, no GOT and didn't do enough for me to go to season 2. Yes, clearly aimed at young-adults, with attractive leads and lots of dramatic developments. I found it funny at the number of times someone was captured and had a lucky escape. Or fell from a height and lived. I also rolled my eyes at the number of times someone held a knife at someones throat and you knew nothing would happen - until the elf-rider got his turn! So the plot events certainly weren't aimed at me as a 55 year old. I don't mind post-apocalyptic themes but the demon stuff was a bit overdone. (I found this in the only Brooks book I read, a different series though) The final battle with the more Uruk-hai looking army was better. The elves had poor battle tactics though. I thought the character of Wil was ok. Funny to hear the Australian accents.
I've started The Witcher now, and though a bit hard to hear the dialogue at times, is much more adult in construction.
