The Tiger has arrived (3 Viewers)

I assumed it represented wear on the whitewash down to the original coat. But I could be wrong.

I'm not sure about this one. What are the sporadic splotches of green paint on the hull fenders and road wheels supposed to be?

If that's true, IMO it doesn't look very good. It looks like someone with a spray gun shot short bursts of paint onto the tank.

I must completely agree with you.......It is quite disappointing IMO and does NOT look good......I was considering returning it...... but I think that I will try to repaint this model....I have not decided yet.

This tank was painted in a slightly different manner than we had done previously in that we painted it such that winter camo was applied over the original 3 color camo paint scheme with bits showing through. It's a bit more advanced technique than previous winter camo than we've done and by and large all of the feedback we've gotten on it has been extremely positive, certainly from the overwhelming majority of folks who actually own the tank rather than just looking at images and then making assessments.

Matt, Yes you are correct about me not owning the tank and basing my opinion on photos posted, and normally I would agree that it's a lot better to be looking at one in hand rather than photos, but in this case the photos (some very close up) show these areas well. It's my opinion that the splotches or dot/clusters don't look good and is not a good method of replicating winter weathering. Having it in hand is not going to change that.

Also I have seen a couple of comments of disappointment about the weathering of this tank (not that I'm taking a headcount on positive vs negative) including this post above who does own the tank and has it in hand.

Anyway, FL makes great models/figures of which I have many, but I still say this is not one of the better examples from FL. Just my opinion.

Interesting that you have to own one to critique it! Also interesting that Matt will not accept private messages from this forum and states it in each of his posts; whats wrong with forum members? Brian, Andy and Ken accept PM's. Forum members can be a valuable source of information on product problems and new product ideas, it is always a good idea to listen to your customer and note their concerns IMO.

That's not what he's saying at all; what he is saying is that you can better evaluate the tank if you have one in your hands rather than based on mere photos. That pretty much applies to any model, even elephants :wink2:

He never said that he doesn't listen to customers. If you email him at FL's email address, he promptly responds.

You have taken his words and drawn unreasonable conclusions in order to fit your points of view.

Thanks for saving me typing this out. Ditto!

The one thing I would say is that to the naked eye it is much more muted. Blends better.

I can attest to that from the past. Matt was always good at responding to my questions when I first was thinking about collecting their American Civil War range.

I can vouch for that as well. Matt has always been very responsive. Always within a day. 1st class customer service.

Not getting in to the whole Tiger paint thing as I do not own one but looks fantastic to me!! but for anyone who has any questions, issues, policy when regarding First Legion Matt or Constantine are about the most easiest accessible guys I know!!! they usually return emails within hours or even faster for the most part, if someone truly has an issue with either one of them that's pretty hard to believe as both are stand up guys and their product and word speaks volumes of these fine gents...Sammy

As spoken earlier...Ditto! :p

I assume y'all are all responding to katana's post and not mine.

In my post was there no indication or insinuation of any type of questionability of Matt's customer service or response to customer's inquiries. I don't know Matt personally, but did have an issue with one of his product's years ago and it was straightened out in prompt fashion.

What I was responding to was Matt's direct response to my questioning the splotches on the model. He indicated to me in his post that I couldn't make a credible determination of the weathering by just looking at pictures posted and also that just about everyone was pleased with the model. I disagreed with this and explained why. I'm a model builder myself for many years and know a little about weathering a model and I said I did not agree with the dot/splotchy result on this model. So in this case I don't have to have it in hand to make that determination. I can see clearly from the posted photos and disagree with how it was done and to me does not look realistic.

This is of course my perception and opinion so is not definitive and certainly arguable.

I did not mean to create a firestorm or anything just expressing my opinion and am fine with those who might disagree.

Matt/FL makes fine products and has for years. This one to me though is not one of their better offerings.... IMO.

Nope, not yours.

As I was drafting my response, refining it, etc, the entire time my 12 year old was challenging me to shoot a game of pool with him to which I responded "not now, I'm working" But the reality is that I wasn't working, I was just spinning my wheels. And now I'm going to do what I should have done 30 minutes ago, get off this forum and play pool with my son.

Matt, exactly what you should do, spend time with your family, this is pointless compared to that.

No worries on this topic. We can just agree to disagree. No biggie.

Take care.

I received my winter tiger in perfect conditions. Thanks Matt.

My question. Inside the box they are 2 handles that comes in a plastic bag.

Where do they go ?

Serge :)

I asked Matt and he said they can be ignored. They were accidentally included.
