I just returned home from seeing the total solar eclipse. I am still trying to understand how I felt watching it unfold.

Over here in NJ the sky darkened a little bit as if it was going to rain but that was it. After a few minutes the sky brightened again.

I'm glad you were able to witness an unusual experience.

See you soon.

Brad

Didn't even notice here, varied cloud cover and very little, if any, dimming. -- Al

The best thing about the eclipse is that the cable news networks took a break from their non-stop Trump coverage. The first time in a year or so that I have watched the news without a Trump story/panel every 30 seconds.

The news would have blamed Trump if it was cloudy and you could not have seen the eclipse.
We had the full eclipse, something to see, but it really didn't get as dark as I thought it would.

Yeah, we were just too far outside the path of totality, for the eclipse to have been a big deal.

Just as for the guys over in Jersey who have replied, we had broken cloud cover the whole time. That's par for the course for me, whenever there is some astronomical event to see. Meteor shower? We have rain and you can't see anything.

Around the peak time, when the sun did shine, the light was a little dimmer, as though viewed through a very weak pair of sunglasses. But it was a fizzle, overall.

Yeah, in 2024, we should be closer to the path of totality, and should have more of a show.

Prost!

Drove 185 miles south to Gallatin, TN with a friend to see the total eclipse. Got fairly dark and street lights came on, temps cooled about 10 deg and birds flying about. Good view of the corona. Nice experience. Chris
