I agree Mike, had in mind some water buffalo pulling a plow or being ridden on. These are neat. Robin.

Robin...

I like them on this diorama a lot...
your guy does nice work on the water and groundwork...

and yes...
I wish he would do a water buffalo...
maybe a child or man fishing...
or hauling fish...
some peasants meandering or working...
a simple hut...

just some more figures that will blend in...

I'm with you guys on this 100%.

I'm building two small "niche" South East Asian dios at the moment from circa 1900 ......
one from the Philippine Insurrection and one from French Indo China.
this is possible with 3-6 soldiers per dio with the various offerings
from the likes of del prado, hachette and Kings X , but there is an absence
of Asian villagers , huts and even thick tropical foliage is a challenge ( even though
I'm scouring the aquarium foliage market on the latter) .

this range offers the only prospect of villagers and huts from what I can see
out there at the moment. there are Vietnamese plastic kits out there but
they tend to be 1/35 , late twentieth century and I'm not one for mixing metals and plastics.

so this JJD range could do the whole hobby a favor.
regards
Andrew

Nice dios guys! I visited Yangshuo in 1991 and spent a few days in town and around the environs - it was awesome! The river is wide and brown and lined with Giant Bamboo if that's any help for your dios. Also the backround is made up of tall limestone peaks that jut straight up from the flat rice paddies and river country. Brings back good memories of my travels through China..

Ok John, time for another release perhaps. What about a Water Buffalo with rider done in your brillant way? or anything in this theme. Think there is support out there. Another souvenir for the local shop to sell at the very least^&grin, Robin.

I must have missed this the first time around. There is no under emphasizing how appealing civilian figures from a bygone area can be, whether rural China, City life (Streets of Hong Kong) or London (Trophy Town & Country). Figarti was working on civilian life in Shanghai that never came to pass. They were very interesting figures.

Your two diorama projects sound fascinating, especially the Philippine Insurrection.
I would like to see someone do Aguinaldo
