Henry, Earl of Richmond's, wait for Richard III is over.

All great figures from John Jenkins, the Heraldry on Richard III is neat and the banners are exceptional.
The mounted Yorkists, have a little more trouble staying upright in their saddles, and I am not so fond of the "Red" lance.

Very glad to finally obtain these since seeing the prototypes, on the Forum, about a year ago.

Congratulations on a very nice presentation! Sure is a great series. Which grass mat is that?

Wonderful scene - wonderful figures. Excellent work Ivanhoe. :salute::

Thank you !

The mat is from "Build-A-Rama", I know you can cut the 'grass' but is seems to work well for Medieval scenes.

Nice additions to your WOR collection Ivanhoe . . . . Richard III is on my want list but probably won't be able to fit him into my TS budget until March . . . Is there historical reference to Richard III having a red lance at Bosworth?

Found this painting, "Richard III at Bosworth" by Graham Turner, while trying to research Richard's appearance during the battle. Perhaps JJD used this painting for the inspiration of their figure. Notice in the painting Richard III reaching for a red lance. Gilded armour is also unmistakenly noticeable. White horse . . . .

Thank you, I agree this is a great series by John Jenkins.

I spent some time searching the Web trying to find reference to a "Red" lance with no luck. I also bothered "Old Bill", a number of times, as I respect his knowledge of the Battle of Bosworth Field. He pointed out the same painting as the one you posted, which I had not been aware of from 2013, I believe. Graham Turner also did a great piece of art "The Battle of Bosworth - King Richard III's charge" which does not show a "Red" lance.

For me, it is not so much the colour of the lance on the figure, as the fact that it is a gloss paint, and almost makes the lance look plastic. Although I am not a fan of messing with new $112.00 figures, I may try to put a 'matte' varnish on the lance to tone down the shine.

Here's a link that you might have seen already - but if not - enjoy some additional info - including some extra coats-of arms (Shields) at the end of the piece - I also wouldn't get overly concerned about the Colour of the lance - as Bosworth info is notoriously poor. Some are still arguing over where precisely, the battle took place - as you may see from the reading list, also at the end. {sm4} jb
